22.01.2022 ACT Health is warning Canberrans about the potential for a thunderstorm asthma event in the ACT region today (Sunday 22 November) and tomorrow (Monday 23 Novemb...er). The warning comes as we see elevated pollen levels and the possibility of severe thunderstorms over the next two days, increasing the risk of a thunderstorm asthma event. People who suffer from hay fever or asthma are encouraged to be vigilant for any worsening of their condition. Thunderstorm asthma can be sudden, serious and even life threatening for people with asthma or hay fever. Protect yourself, or someone you care for, from risk by: staying indoors with windows and doors closed staying in air-conditioned premises, and if possible, switching the air conditioner to ‘recycle’ or ‘recirculate’ to reduce the amount of dust entering the building avoiding all vigorous exercise, especially if you have a heart or lung conditions If you experience asthma symptoms which are unrelieved by their usual asthma treatment, seek urgent medical advice. House rules: Never cough into your bare hand Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough ( see instructions above if you dont have a tissue) Dispose of the tissue immediately dont save it for later Wash your hands thoroughly, using soap and water or hand sanitiser if soap and water is not available.

Dont worry about your prescriptions - if you need home delivery of scripts (or other products) we are all geared up to make that happen the same day - usually within a couple of hours! All you need to do is call you local pharmacy and they will make it happen. Please dont put our staff or our beloved customers at risk by "popping in" on your way home.

We know this is easier said than done though Luckily, regular and thorough hand washing (20 to 30 seconds) and cleaning frequently touched surfaces, like desks and phones, can lower your risk of infections. They are also used for people who are unwell with respiratory symptoms (for example coughing and sneezing) and people who are suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19. Masks help contain infectious droplets from sick people and keep those around them safe. Some studies of people with psoriasis show that up to 70% will avoid swimming, and 40% will avoid playing sport. 12% will even avoid leaving their house, with many people experiencing anxiety and/or depression. While theres no known cure for psoriasis yet, ther...e are treatments which can help to control the symptoms. These include topical creams or ointments, pills or injections, and UV or light therapy administered by a dermatologist.
