25.01.2022 Over one and a half thousand people have committed suicide this year which has been directly related to these lockdowns we are all experiencing. More than half of these are children. I have made a decision, as a parent, to not allow my children to participate in any more online/remote schooling. This is not learning. This is not how our children should be experiencing their lives. This is not healthy. ... This is going to be hard. Its going to be hard to convince my girls that I dont want them to do this. For some reason they both feel they are under pressure and they must get this done. Well today, it stops. I see my girls, as you would too with your own children, get up every day, sit in front of their computers, sometimes beyond 3pm, tapping away, stressing out, frustrated, bored, almost lifeless at times with no passion left. I know they miss their friends, those interactions, the laughing, the fighting even, just being in another kids company. But I cant do anything about that right now. Yes, they talk over the phone to them, they message, they FaceTime... but we all know its just not the same. Dont get me wrong, I know us adults are suffering too, some more than others. Although I do think we have better coping mechanisms than most of our children. How much longer of this can our kids take before they snap? Ive already noticed my 11 year old becoming quite teary over what once wouldve been a small dilemma. So instead, I am also going to take the next 6 weeks off with my children and do things with them like I use to do before they started school. Theyre not going to be sitting in their rooms on their phones, watching mindless celebrities on You Tube. Were going to be cooking fresh healthy food (we do eat like this any way but its usually only me in the kitchen), Im going to make them come out and get their hands dirty in the garden, were going to go for walks (obviously complying to our new rules ), Im going to teach them about our world and life so they grow up to understand and question any information which is imparted onto them. Were going to lay on the grass in the backyard (when the Melbourne sun comes out) and just look at the clouds while we soak up some much missed Vitamin D There is so much the school system leaves out, so much our kids need to be taught that isnt in any curriculum. Im taking a break. Taking a break with my 11 and 16 year old before this breaks them. Please note: this has nothing to do with the quality of education from my childrens schools or their teachers. I understand that their hands are tied and they are part of The System. We need to break free for a while.

15.01.2022 Looking at the 'cl' blend this week for grade 2, with some writing, spelling, reading and chalk on the footpath! Luckily Bailey realised that 'cry' was a 'cr' word and put it back under the right spider. #clevergirl #whenlearningmakessense #spidersonthewall

03.01.2022 Good morning Families, I have received many messages and emails in regards to booking in for Zoom classes. I have decided that I will not be partaking in online sessions during these restrictions - unfortunately they don't sit right with me. Do you best you can through remote learning with your school everyone and don't overthink things. It's not the be all and end all. Your own well-being and your families should be your main priority while we are all locked away. Don't let this conquer you, you are better and stronger than that.

02.01.2022 Using conjunctions to extend those written ideas!

01.01.2022 Perfection from the garden
