22.01.2022 Hello all, As many of you would have heard by now, the National Cabinet and the PM have today eased restrictions to allow gatherings of up to 10 people in public. This will allow all FNQ clubs to return to groups of 4 on the tee for competition and social golf.... VERY IMPORTANT to note. The timing of this will depend on the advice from the QUEENSLAND Chief Health Officer and I urge clubs to exercise restraint until that happens. I would expect this to take a couple of days, so we are probably looking at Mon/Tues for it to take effect in Queensland. All FNQ clubs have been magnificent in the restraint shown during the past few weeks and I congratulate you all. Please follow all directives from the QLD government as we return gradually to normality.. Regards Stewy Worth President FNQGA

10.01.2022 Hi all here is the poster for the Tully Junior golf Open Hope you all can make Regards Kim

08.01.2022 Saturday was an Australia Day Stableford, only 7 people began the the round after 9 holes the front 3 players were drowned and headed off. 4 of us continued on mainly due to the fact that Adam Stubbings was level with the course off the stick(35) and besides we were wetter than If we'd have been in the sea for an hour! Quick 9 hole breather saw us commence the back 9.... Rain let up until Jim Boston put his ears back in! Then we'll it was pouring again.... Great shouting ab...use at him or lip syncing when he can't hear....sorry Jim. We had a great battle out there myself playing with Jim while Adam and Mike were in it for a ticket..... 5 down at one stage, we were all square down the last and that's how it stayed! There was some wonderful golf being played by the other 3.....i was only grateful that Mike and I weren't partners or Wed have lost by about the 11 hole the way the other 2 were playing . Suffice to say I played with the top 3! Adam Stubbings had an amazing 42 points net 65! Jim Boston had a great 38 points Mike kennedy had 32 points And me well I was happy watching the others Claire Bourke, Mike Harris, Bob Williams were the other 3..... They say the weather was only suited to Mad dogs and Englishmen..... Well I'm the Englishman do all you others must be the Mad dogs.... All I can say is well done to all of you that played.... At least we can't complain about lack of rain and it's got me a step closer to being ready for 6 weeks in the UK Many thanks for reading Marc

08.01.2022 advised to close by Golf Australia Golf Australia flag Golf Australia has advised all Australian golf clubs and facilities to close until further notice.... Golf Australia chairman Andrew Newbold said the recommendation was based on the Prime Minister’s announcement on Sunday evening (29 March) that limits outdoor gatherings to two persons or fewer. The Prime Minister said all Australians should stay at home except for: Shopping for essentials Medical purposes Exercise Work and education, if you cannot work or learn remotely Some Premiers and Chief Ministers have already supported this view and reinforced to their residents that this advice should be followed. It is expected that states/territories will all take this position in coming days. Newbold said government messaging had been clear on what constituted exercise and while golf is used as exercise for many, it was clear golf did not fall within those parameters in the past 24 hours. Golf Australia acknowledges that some state and territory governments will provide additional information and we will keep you up to date as and when additional state and territory-based announcements are made so you are clear on the legalities of golf courses and their operations moving forward, Newbold said. While this is a difficult time for the golf industry and wider society, Golf Australia is committed to working with clubs and facilities across the states and territories to ensure that we return a vibrant, strong industry. Golf Australia has also, in conjunction with the Australian Sports Turf Management Association, Golf NSW and Golf WA begun to lobby both Federal and state governments to ensure that in the event of a further increase in restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 course staff will be able to continue to access clubs and facilities. We will keep you all up to date as to the status of these discussions, although it should be noted that as of now there are no further restrictions on current greenkeeping operations, Newbold said.
