23.01.2022 Hey folks! Happy 2021. I hope you’ve all had a peaceful & positive start to the new year I got a lot of positive feedback on my last series on PCOS, and I wanted to create a similar series for those of you navigating challenging premenstrual symptoms.... PMS is incredibly common, but that doesn't make it normal! Any significant, recurring premenstrual symptoms are a communication from your body that something is out of balance. I see profound results in so many of my PMS clients just using simple diet & lifestyle changes and supportive herbal/nutritional remedies. And I want to share these with you for FREE, cos knowledge is power, and you deserve to have the best available knowledge about the way your body works! So to begin, there are four main categories of PMS, grouped into: 1) PMS-A (Anxiety) 2) PMS-C (Cravings) 3) PMS-D (Depression) 4) PMS-H (Hyper-hydration) Of course, these categories frequently overlap, but identifying the predominant pattern that your own symptoms constellate within can help you understand the drivers and root causes in your life, and take charge of your menstrual wellness Can you pick which one your own pattern is most aligned with? I'll go into each one of these in more detail in the coming days, so stay tuned! #knowledgeispower #bodyliteracy #menstrualpower #menstrualwellness #pms #naturalmedicines #naturopathy #periods #periodcare #knowyourbody #readyourbody #herbalmedicine #nutrition #yourbodyworks #yourbodyisamazing
20.01.2022 Chocolate, anyone? Hormonal changes and lower energy can have many of us reaching for the chocolate at this time of the month, but if your sugar/carbohydrate cravings are especially strong and accompanied by sudden drops in energy/blood sugar, headaches, fatigue or dizziness/palpitations then you just might be the PMS-C type! The most important strategy for PMS-C is stabilising your blood sugar. To do this:... Ensure you are consuming sufficient protein throughout the day. So many of the PMS clients I see are getting nowhere near enough, and it is reflected in blood sugar disturbances, and energy and mood fluctuations throughout the day. The base recommendation is 1g per kg of body weight each day, which seems like a lot, but if you include good quality protein with every meal (eggs, fish, beans/legumes, tofu/tempeh) it's very achievable! If you find this challenging, whey or plant-based protein powder might be a good friend to make! Add two scoops to water or a green or cacao/banana smoothie and have 1-3 times daily. Try this in your premenstrual phase, and you might be quite amazed at the difference in your craving. 20.01.2022 Hey folks! If you haven't taken my survey yet and would like to spend 5 minutes contributing to my micro-research, I would deeply appreciate it. The survey asks around menstrual cycle knowledge, attitudes and experience and is designed to help me understand folks' body literacy & experience when it comes to the (almighty) menstrual cycle.... I'll use this information to help guide the resources & services I then create and offer back to you :) I am giving away TWO fertility awareness programs as prizes for entering (valued at $500 each!). Winners will be drawn November 15th. Thanks so much to the folks who have already taken the time to enter Tag a friend who you think might be interested in deepening their cycle literacy, and learning how to accurately read their fertile signs! 02.01.2022 PREMENSTRUAL ANXIETY Tension, irritability, nervousness, difficulty sleeping, moodiness.. do these sound familiar? PMS-A is one manifestation of hormonally-induced PMS that can have you dreading the end of your cycle. ... It’s commonly an indicator that there is an excess of your more activating hormone ~estrogen~ in the second half of your cycle where the calming & GABA-inducing queen ~progesterone~ should reign Estrogen is required to be broken down/ detoxified by the liver, and excreted in a timely fashion in your , because if it hangs around too long in your bowel it’s likely to be reabsorbed and taken back into circulation. Not a good thing! and just one of the reasons why a healthy gut is essential for hormonal health. Some simple diet & lifestyle changes can make a big difference here, esp. getting enough FIBER, and managing stress. Check out the other recommendations and let me know if any of these things have worked for you! #pms #anxiety #pmsa #estrogen #estrogendominance #hormonebalance #hormones #cortisol #progesterone #detoxification #liverhealth #guthealth #guthealthmatters #periodhealthmatters #periods #periodsolutions #loveyourperiod #naturopath #melbourne #narrm
