19.01.2022 Obstacle 19 "Varied Footing" In the Style phase, the horse should approach and complete the obstacle in a longer framed walk. The Judge will be considering rhyt...hm, straightness and the transitions in levels 4 and above. In level 5, straightness is considered. This obstacle consists of an enclosed frame, constructed of sleepers 3-4 metres in length and 1-1.5 metres wide. Inside the frame can be one or more items of varied footing, such as rubber mats, carpet or wood chips. The varied footing must be ridden at a walk only in both the Style and the Speed and Accuracy phases. Compulsory transition markers are placed 2 metres from each end of the varied footing. Note; some materials are not allowed see Obstacle Guidelines for more information. Here is a member completing the Varied footing during an unofficial competition. Pictures of the fold up/transportable frame are included. The surface used on the day, was carpet with stripes painted on it.

18.01.2022 In September we are running a mini Le Trec competition. Practice day for this is next Sunday 23rd August, weather permitting. Le Trec is a horse riding event with 3 phases. Points are scored for each phase. Le Trec is designed to test a horse/rider combination through a range of activities, combining elements of trail riding with horsemanship skills and flat work. TARC is holding a modified, in house version, suitable for all riders.... The three phases are; Phase A Optimum speed and orienteering. To be held over about 3 km. Teams of two riders must follow a course on a map, finding specified points along the way. There will be an optimum time set, about trotting speed. Phase B A timed canter and walk exercise. Slowest canter and fastest walk are winners Phase C Obstacle course. Similar tasks to stockmans challenge. Will include some uncounted tasks.
