25.01.2022 Artists on Parade invite you to view a new exhibition by local artist Daragh McCallum starting on Wed 11th Nov and running for 4 weeks.

25.01.2022 Thank you to Debbie Munday for the well organised and fun card making courses she ran at the Wenoma studio as part of the Art for Recovery workshop series 2020. The children’s class and the adults class ran smoothly and happily with a constant buzz of chat whilst working. Most participants had never done card making like this before and enjoyed the experience. Card making supplies were supplemented by bags of stamps, papers, ribbons and all sorts of things from the Crafty Fr...og ladies in Canberra who sent craft supplies for bushfire recovery activities. Many thanks to these generous people and the FRRR for helping us to provide 13 workshop experiences over the last 2 weeks during the October school holidays. They were all enjoyed, creative things were produced, people were able to get together safely and have a few hours of relaxation. In most workshops, people found there were people they hadn’t met before which was a great way of connecting different parts of the community. The men from the Friday afternoon pyrography class got so involved in their discussion about fire proofing the community for future fires they didn’t notice they’d stayed an extra 2 hours. Thanks to all the participants for joining in and making them such a success and thanks to Susie a’Beckett, Bernadette Alleyn and Carol Grant for helping with milkshakes and coffees. Also big thanks to Munday Catering, The 4 Bears and Tumba hotel for cakes, burgers and pizza. @FRRR, @Craftyfrog

24.01.2022 More happy participants of the Artists on Parade, Art for Recovery workshop 2020 series this time learning to draw birds under the guidance of Chantelle Bruton. Adults and children in 3 different workshops have enjoyed learning the intricacies of the colours and textures of feathers. Chantelle’s courses are always popular and it was great to see lots of new people having a go and enjoying a couple of hours away from regular activities with great camaraderie in the break time. Delicious pizza’s from the Tumba hotel were enjoyed by all groups. Thanks again to FRRR for the Visy bushfire grant that assisted us to be able to provide these opportunities.

21.01.2022 Art for recovery workshops have produced some lovely results from the children’s painting groups. ‘A morning with Chagall’ and ‘A morning with Van Gogh’ were the themes of the paintings sessions taken by MaryAnn Marshall held on Wednesday mornings. The children learned about a famous artist and then painted using their style. Delicious cakes were provided by Mundays catering and milkshakes made by gallery members. Thanks FRRR Visy bushfire grant for enabling us to offer these workshops.

16.01.2022 I am excited to share this flyer for my up coming exhibition.

15.01.2022 Did you miss out on the Drawing Aussi birds course with Chantelle Bruton? 13.01.2022 Art for Recovery workshops continue this week. Thursday saw a group of 6 cousins enjoy time together with another local lad at the pyrography workshop led by local wood worker Jim Daley. Beautiful Huon pine stirrers made by Jim were decorated with burning tools which were surprisingly tricky to master. Despite the cold weather Jim was able to demonstrate the use of the lathe to make a wooden egg cup and a lucky few had the opportunity to have a go. This afternoon a group of ...men who’d all been affected by the January fires also participated in the pyrography workshop however Jim was unable to take it today. Lovely patterns and fun designs took great concentration but when the activity finished a lively discussion ensued regarding the recovery and preparedness for future fire seasons. A 2 hour workshop initiated a further 2 hrs of discussion which confirmed the value of this type of activity for bringing people together. The delicious afternoon tea was again provided by Mundays catering and Susie a’Beckett made some great coffees. Thanks again to FRRR for the Visy bushfire grant which allowed us to provide these workshops. See more

04.01.2022 Congratulations Daragh McCallum on the opening of your first solo exhibition ‘Art of Learning’, the culmination of your years of learning with teacher and friend Jennie Forster. A small group was able to celebrate her achievement on Saturday. It will be open for 4 weeks so come to Artists on Parade for a look.

03.01.2022 The miserable wet weather was perfect for people to enjoy more of the Art for Recovery workshop series 2020. Thursday evening saw the drawing Aussie birds group attempt a parrot and a blue wren. Intense concentration was broken up with lively discussion over a pizza break. Chantelle Bruton guided the group of new and more experienced artists. This morning the painting class had fun painting colourful cactus with MaryAnn Marshall. The participants were delighted with their efforts and described the class as fun, relaxing, enjoyable and motivating. Many thanks to the FRRR Visy bushfire grant for enabling so many in the community to enjoy 2 hours of time out of their ordinary day doing something new or different and being able to connect with other members of the community.

01.01.2022 This is a great initiative of Tumut Art society. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn drawing from Jenny Forster.
