25.01.2022 **A message from our Commissioner Paul Baxter** Today, we are grieving with Coulson Aviation - Next Gen Firefighting as they mourn the loss of Captain Ian H McB...eth, First Officer Paul Clyde Hudson, and Flight Engineer Rick A. DeMorgan Jr who were tragically killed during firefighting operations yesterday afternoon. Our hearts go out to the families, friends and colleagues of the three crew members of the C130 bomber 134. Coulson’s aircraft have been a common sight in our skies during our bushfire crisis and have made so much difference to our firefighters on the ground. As a mark of mourning and respect, flags will be flown at half-mast today from all Fire and Rescue NSW buildings. 21.01.2022 The chill factor is here. If you are bringing out the heater for the first time this season, remember: keep everything, including yourself, one metre from the heater. For more fire safety advice visit fire.nsw.gov.au/winter #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

18.01.2022 When we say "keep everything one metre from the heater" - we mean it! We have attended several house fires over the last week that have occurred because of furn...iture and other items being left too close to heaters as people try to keep warm. The photos you see are from a house fire where the determined cause was having a heater too close to the bed. With temperatures expected to be well below average for many parts of the state this weekend, please stay warm but stay safe! Visit www.fire.nsw.gov.au/winter for fire safety information. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

15.01.2022 This afternoon crews along with Tumbarumba RFS were called to reports of a fire in an oven upon arrival they found an explosion had occurred due to modifications that had been made to the hot water section of the stove. Luckily the occupants of the home were not in the kitchen at the time of the explosion and had a working fire extinguisher on hand to prevent the fire from spreading to the house. #kitchenfiresafety

14.01.2022 Sunday 26 January-Boil Water Notice Lifted - Tumbarumba Snowy Valleys Council, after consultation with NSW Health, advises customers that the Boil Water Notice ...for Tumbarumba is now lifted as of Sunday 26 January 2020. The provision of raw water through the Tumbarumba water supply network, to maintain water supply for firefighting purposes, necessitated a boil water alert. Water quality testing has confirmed that the water supply is now safe and residents may now consume Tumbarumba town water without boiling. IMPORTANT INFORMATION It is recommended that owners and residents flush all internal and external taps for a minimum of 10 minutes to draw fresh water into their plumbing and to flush any raw water from their systems. For residents with long pipeline services, the flushing duration will need to be longer. The cooperation and understanding of all people affected by the boil water notice is very much appreciated.
