25.01.2022 This cute little message is from the UK. Australia is very close to the UK situation, so we view it equily pertinent. As yet, Victoria and NSW have not categorized veterinary services as essential service, although WA and SA have. We expect this to happen soon, on animal welfare grounds. It also seems quiet possible that Victoria and NSW will bring in compulsory self isolation. Walwa and Tumbarumba clinic are already reducing our non-urgent visits and surgery and practicing social distancing. In the event of "lock down" we expect to still be available for small emergencies and farm visits. But, the clinic must be contacted first. We are always available for phone advice. We look forward to resuming normal services soon, once the "curve" has flattened.

20.01.2022 A great message

20.01.2022 In light of the current Australian Government and World Health Organisation recommendations, we have made some changes to our practice protocol to try and keep our staff and wider community safe. We would really appreciate your co-operation in implementing them: - If you have made an appointment with us, please phone ahead of time to let us know you are on your way. Once arrived, please wait outside the entrance to be let in or phone to say you are waiting in your car - Plea...se limit the number of people accompanying each animal (ideally 1 person per patient) - Please exercise a safe distance between yourself and our staff (at least 1.5m). If you are experiencing any flu like symptoms please find an alternative person to accompany your pet - Please wash your hands before and after your visit- we will have hand sanitiser available - When paying your invoice, card or online payments are preferred to cash at this time We understand that these are confusing and uncertain times, but together, we can all help to 'flatten the curve' of this devastating pandemic.

19.01.2022 At this stage both the Walwa and Tumbarumba practices are continuing to operate. However, we do ask our valued clients to follow some basic guidelines: - Please limit the number of people entering the clinic accompanying your pet (ideally 1 person per animal) ... - if you are suffering flu like symptoms please try and avoid entering the clinic - Regular hand washing/ using hand sanitiser before and after your visit We thank you all for your ongoing support in this difficult time!

08.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS and ANIMALS We are frequently fielding client queries about coronavirus in animals and would like to give a bit of an update on the currently availa...ble information. The situation regarding animals and coronavirus is complicated, and much is still unknown. The SARS-Cov-2 virus may have originated in animals (likely bats), however COVID-19 in its current form is almost exclusively a human disease, transmitted from human to human. Pets, particularly cats, may become infected with SARS-Cov-2 (the virus which causes COVID-19), but animals are unlikely to be a major source of infection to humans. Your main risk by far is from other people. Human COVID-19 patients may transmit the virus to cats via close contact, and cats may transmit it to other cats. But there are no known cases where an infected cat has passed it onto a human. The take home messages are: 1. If you are unwell with respiratory symptoms, stay away from animals in the same way you would distance yourself from other people. 2. Social distancing applies to animals as well as people. Keep your cats indoors (or in an outdoor cat enclosure) 24/7. Don’t allow your dog to have contact with any others outside your household. 3. Your own pet poses virtually no risk to you. If your pet becomes infected, they have almost certainly got it from your family, rather than the other way around.
