07.01.2022 The start of the East - West Gilmore Bridge construction. The bridge planks have arrived and the 200T crane placed them into position today. In total there are 12 planks with each plank weighing 19.3T and 15 metres in length! These photos were taken this morning (nice backdrop on a sunny day) with 3 planks still to be positioned. Yet another step closer to finalising our Flood Recovery Program.... Remaining work include construction of bridge approaches, stream diversion (so stream is realigned to be under the mid bridge span), and embankment protection works. Completion is expected to be towards the end of May and the bridge will be reopened to traffic.
