24.01.2022 Year 10 students are currently participating in Transition Week. Each day there are a variety of enrichment activities and introductory lessons to build their level of preparedness for their senior years at Tumut High School. It is hoped that, during this process, students will develop an accurate understanding of the high expectations required of them in their senior courses. In addition to the taster lessons, guest speakers from the local community, the business sector and... members of the school will also be imparting information in relation to the significant choices and options available to them throughout the transition process and the senior school. Today students listened to presentations on employer expectations from AKD and the Coffee Pedaler, they participated in wellbeing activities with Tomorrow Man/Woman, and they had taster lessons for Construction, Geography, Legal Studies and Hospitality. Tomorrow students will have taster lessons for Biology, CAFS, Industrial Technology and Music. Past THS students (Jess Sturt and Grant Hardwick) will speak about their journey and the pathways they have pursued since leaving school. Verto will speak with the students about how to gain an apprenticeship and traineeship, what their responsibilities are and also their rights when employed.

23.01.2022 Year 10 students enjoyed learning some Hospitality skills in their taster lesson for 2021.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to our Year 9/10 debating team who had a victory in Round 3 of the Premier's Debating Challenge against Blakehurst High School. It was a really difficult topic related to politics -"That the Federal Government should have a Minister for Youth." We were affirmative. The team performed their best in this debate. Coach Mr V was very impressed with their model. The team argued how it would give young people a sense of having a voice in the political realm. Well done Abbey, Megan, Eddie, Daniel and Mr V.

Our school, our community, our town benefits immensely from this Program. Listen to the boy's talking at the end of the video and you will understand why. More details and photos of this experience will be in our next newsletter.
