17.01.2022 *2020 GT-R FESTIVAL POSTPONEMENT TO 12th DECEMBER* Due to the track requiring further work at Sydney Dragway, we are unable to run GT-R Festival on the 28th of November and it is postponed until the 12th of December 2020. Sydney Dragway has undergone extensive upgrades and laid down a completely new track. After initial testing, they decided the track needs to be scraped and polished to ensure it is of a world class standard. These track works start on Monday 16th November a...nd take 2 weeks, which is the original weekend of GT-R Festival. This means we were unable to have any drag racing. We understand it is an inconvenience for many, but the extra 2 weeks will be spent prepping the track and helping ensure we have a world class surface capable of setting records. Speaking with major workshops, it will also enable further time to prepare the quickest GT-Rs on the planet and give us an incredible Pro Street showdown between KING32, JUNII, MSMRH7 and a couple of new contenders, as well as have METRO attempt to re-set the world record. There is also a whole new range of new and improved True Street GT-Rs that have been built in 2020 and some new True Street Manual record holder contenders. Our prediction is that we will have the most amount of 6,7,8 and 9 second GT-Rs ever seen at an event, with multiple records tumbling. All entries and tickets purchased will automatically roll over to the new date. Another change to the event is that the show and shine area has been moved to the Eastern side of the dragstrip. This was done so that spectators can now walk around and check out all of the display cars. One added benefit of this is that all display entrants can now watch the drag racing without taking their eye of their pride and joy. Traders will now be located at the top of the stairs behind the main grandstands and the Motive VIP area will be in the bar/shed. For more info, please look at the map. All drag racing entrants will still be parked in the pit area, which currently has a limit of 500 people. We are working on a COVID plan that enables more people as we can now spread the pits out further. To be able to enter the pit area you MUST purchase a pit crew ticket from our website. They will not be available on the day. https://gtrfestival.bigcartel.com/ Moving the Machina Magica Show and Shine means we have also moved the VIP parking area closer to the grandstands. Unfortunately, at this stage, we don’t have full access for spectators to watch the motorkhana. To watch the motorkhana you will need to be an entrant or have a pit crew ticket. With these changes in place, we will be finalising the schedule by 21st November, but drag racing will now go all day instead of just the afternoon, meaning more runs for entrants and more entertainment for the spectators. Thankyou for your understanding on this postponement. Although out of control, we are excited about the benefits it brings.
