18.01.2022 Well, that's a wrap - Aussie Time Attack has come to a close for 2020! It's great that the event could even still be held given the current raft of cancelled events and restrictions impacting everything in this day and age. But despite the tougher operating conditions, the team at Tunehouse have been hard at work behind the scenes for many months perfecting the ultimate street car for the event. A little over 6 months ago we took Honda's excellent FK8 Civic and went about mak...ing it greater. But the key here is that this isn't a one trick pony, trailered everywhere because it's only built for one thing - this is Jim's daily driven street car and is as comfortable heading out for coffee or transporting the family as it is on the racetrack. How did we get here? Hundreds of hours of custom tuning and road testing to develop the ultimate tune for all conditions, working out a fix for the overheating issues known to plague the FK8 platform in race conditions elsewhere, custom exhaust configurations to achieve the best combination of flow and exhaust note, and a multitude of suspension combinations arms and geometry were just some of the tasks undertaken. The result? The fastest Civic FK8 to ever lap Wakefield Park Raceway - steered by John Boston from Trackschool Trackdays, who praised the impressive yet linear power delivery - we ran a best time of 1:04:37. That's faster on the day than a multitude of Nissan GTR's, Porsche GT3RS's, a Lotus Exige S, a BMW M3 and a whole host of other custom built and configured track weapons. And the best part? This is a road car with carefully considered modifications and a brilliant ECU calibration, so we just drove it home while a whole bunch of other cars were being loaded on trailers. if you want a full run down on the modifications made to the car then just give us a yell, but as a teaser it's still running the standard engine and standard turbo configuration with boost levels barely higher than the standard car...yet makes close to 80kw more than factory..!
