Comprised of eight new commissions produced under the leadership of independent artists Serena Chalker and Geordie Crawley, composers will be matched with a choreographer to create a fusion of d...ance, music and location - where the audience is taken on a journey of discovery through the venue in an unfamiliar way. If youre a composer interested in site-responsive compositional practice and presentation outside of traditional theatre spaces, we encourage you to apply by midnight on Sep 22. 20.01.2022 Our commissioning program Tura Adapts is LIVE. Head to our web site to explore new sounds from Perth-based experimental artists such as Erasers, Tao Issaro, C. Tsang, Josten Myburgh & Adam Pultz Melbye, Nick Stark, Steven Alyian, and Annika Moses; and from composers, sound and video artists Australia-wide including Anthony Moles (NSW) & Carmen Morales (Spain), Dylan Crismani (SA), and Nat Grant Music & Jutta Pryor (VIC). Artist Director Tos Mahoney said "the response to c...all-outs for this program was overwhelming, and the outcomes are humbling in the breadth of rigour and passion expressed through what soon will be a suite of 20 new Australian compositions. We congratulate and thank all the composers, sound artists and videographers that have created and will create such meaningful work." Artists for this program were encouraged to think digital and adapt to the isolated space, creating outside of the regular performer-to-audience world. The outcomes are a combination of audio and video and audio-only, with artists attempting to navigate and make sense of their newfound isolation. SHOWING NOW: https://buff.ly/2SxnGOy

18.01.2022 Tura extends our condolences to the Warmun community and family of Old Man. He was and is a true Australian legend and it was our privilege to be able to work with him over the past 12 years. His spirit, wisdom and laughter live on in his paintings and those of the younger Warmun artists he inspired. This is a moment to contemplate his legacy and support the Warmun Art Centre for all the great work they do.

07.01.2022 "So much has happened in a little over two weeks. With only 7 weeks to enact a music tour across the Kimberley, there was much still being finalised as the Tour started. "Maybe it was this intensity, maybe it was the spontaneity and freshness, maybe it was the outpouring of joy from community of just being able to gather let alone experience live performances, maybe being on country with such old hearts and minds probably it was all of that and more but Sonus2 has certainl...y elicited powerful responses across every day of its short existence." Artistic Director Tos Mahoney contemplates the recent Sonus2 Tour featuring Kimberley singer-songwriters Olive Knight and Stephen Pigram with Esfandiar Shahmir, Tristen Parr, and Tos himself, all collaborating with artists and community as they travelled through the Kimberley.
