25.01.2022 Feel for the turf growers and managers, staff and local communities affected by the recent storms in Texas and surrounds. Loss of life, massive damage and a huge clean up. Turf Producers International is offering help for those affected as has the superintendents association and sports field managers.

24.01.2022 Bit of work going on the Ballarat region with Pitchcraft currently on projects at Buninyong Oval and City Oval in Ballarat. The City Oval work sees the much disliked fire brigade running track being removed and the oval surface reconfigured to bring it closer to the old style grand stand.

20.01.2022 The club this week took delivery of a new Toro Workman with a 757L spray tank. An important part of the turf maintenance program is to regularly apply herbicide...s, fungicides, insecticides, growth regulators, soluble fertilisers etc. to our playing surfaces. Quite often it can be a challenge to apply chemicals when there is a large number of golfers and the weather conditions are less than ideal. The shrouded boom will assist spraying if the wind is perhaps a little too strong by allowing the product to reach the target more efficiently. The addition of this unit to our fleet will improve our productivity and spraying opportunities. The spray unit can be removed if necessary and a tip tray used to cart soil etc. This unit is a very welcome addition to our turf maintenance machinery in the maintenance facility. See more

10.01.2022 To those turf managers or turf growers with bird problems, a recent report by a Nuffield Scholar on deterring birds (Magpie Geese in this case) may have some relevant information for turf applications. Drones, predators, audio, trained dogs some of the ideas. Will keep you posted. The author of the report is a grower of a wide variety of vegies, etc near Darwin.

Winner of the metropolitan manager and overall manager of the year --- Martin Synan, Moonee Valley. Winner of the regional track manager award was Bernard Hopkins, Bendigo Jockey Club.
