23.01.2022 Someone asked about joining the fishing club and when we will have our next meeting, I can't find the post now but at this stage, with numbers in the club being limited it's not clear yet when or where our next gathering will be held. Our last monthly competition was held remotely and the committee will make a decision closer to the next as to whether it will also be a remote comp.

23.01.2022 Sunday, Sept 20, saw the first group Goblet measure-in since March when the Covid restrictions began. It was held at the Tuross Head Country Club with a dozen members attending and all obeying the required rules for a meeting in a licenced venue. It was a pretty ordinary weekend for fishing being overcast, windy with a choppy water surface. However, thirty four fish were caught by seven competitors comprising two females and five males. The Goblet itself was not a targeted s...pecies event but one where the highest point scoring fish from from our species list and NOT a Goblet species. This was awarded to David Backhouse who caught a Flying Gurnard that measured 41.5cm and scored 104.9 points. The Classes Mens Offshore Mathew (Robbo) Roberts with a Morwong 54 cm and 126 points Ladies Off shore Jeanie Dixon with a Morwong at 52 cm and 118 points. Mens Lake and Estuary Neil Alexander with a Flathead measuring 36.5 cm and 30.9 points Ladies Lake and Estuary Pam Alexander with a Trevally at 34.5 and 57. points. A note here - this ladies award for Lake and Estuary was the first time this has been awarded in nearly five months and had jackpotted. The mystery fish was drawn by random generator and was number 10. This was a Garfish and not awarded. The Turkey of the months was given to Carol Kenny who was finger spiked by Snapper earlier in the month and spent three and a half hours in the Emergency Department to have the spike removed from the painfully sore finger. The next Goblet is October 9,10,11 and the target species is Pigfish. This coincides with a fishing club away weekend in Eden. As its also Daylight Saving the official start time will be 4.00 pm Friday and closing time will be 4.00 pm Sunday. As there will be members fishing fishing locally as well as in Eden, the measure-in will be again digital so please forward results by email only to [email protected]. The results will be posted once we have collated them. We (the competition secretaries) will be transiting from Eden to Tuross during that Sunday.

22.01.2022 The July 2020 Goblet competition is now finished and the results collated. Following is the results. Overall it was not a pleasant weekend to be fishing, however the fishing itself has yielded fifty one fish by ten fishers who entered fish. There were three females and seven males who caught fish. All but three fish were caught offshore Results ... Mens Offshore Mathew Roberts with a snapper at 57cm which scored him 119.9 points Mens Rock and Beach Paul Skilton with a salmon at 45 cm and gave 67.5 points Mens Lake and Estuary Paul Skilton with a flathead at 43 cm and 42.5 points Ladies Offshore Rachael Kennedy with a Morwong of 48,5 cm and 104 points There were no Rock and Beach or Lake and Estuary fish entered in the women's sections Goblet Species Targeted was Salmon and we have a Goblet winner Goblet Paul Skilton with a salmon at 47.3 cm and the 67.5 points awarded in the RandB section above. There were no Bream or Tailor entered and they will carry over to August along with Morwong and Drummer, Mystery Fish Selected by a computer based randomiser, number 26 which is Whiting as as no whiting were entered the Mystery fish jackpots. As an aside, since we are currently running the Goblets electronically it is important that we have a hard copy of the fish caught, therefore, sent by email. We had a case today where fish sent by a messenger service were totally missed because of other chatter happening. If we have to do another Goblet electronically or for any other fish caught for the point please send by email to [email protected] then we will have a hard copy. Congratulations to all who entered fish and to those that won in their sections.

18.01.2022 Next weekend (July 10-11-12) is our July Goblet weekend and the target species are Bream and Salmon. There is also an un-awarded goblet from last month which is Tailor. It is also up for grabs. The Goblet begins at 4:00pm Friday, July 10 and finishes at 1:00pm Sunday, July 12. AT THIS POINT we are able to have a measure-in at the downstairs outside area of the Country Club. Fish scores can be sent digitally or recorded at the presentation. A meal will be provided. ... WE ALL MUST understand that we are under Federal and State Government restrictions and to use the Country Club we must abide by the rules. A four square metre distancing per person is required. You MUST enter the club premises by the front door and sign or swipe in. You cannot casually wander into the downstairs BBQ area. You must also sign or swipe out. There are huge fines for the club if patrons do not abide by these rules. Food handling is also a problematic area. We cannot have a buffet type service and have investigated the best way to provide a meal for everyone. So far, it is strictly service to the table by the nominated kitchen server with no one else permitted to enter the kitchen area. All patrons seated with permitted distancing and with usual or family grouping. we will use disposable plates and cutlery. So, as usual, send your catch results and photos to [email protected], enjoy the freedoms we do have and we will see you all on the measure presentation.

16.01.2022 The July Goblet has 30 minutes until the close of entries.

13.01.2022 Well it Friday and the July Goblet starts at 4pm today. There three goblet species that are up grabs Salmon, Bream and Tailor. (the un-awarded goblet from last month). Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases nationwide and the influx of holiday makers and the general disregard of distancing, the committee has made the decision not to hold a gathering or presentations in front of a group of people. Safety of our members is our highest priority. ... Please send all fishing results ( along with photos) by email to [email protected] - the close of competition is 1.00pm Sunday and at that time we will begin collating results and announce details later in the afternoon Apart from that (if the predicated rain doesn't get us) it will be a good weekend of fishing. Good luck to all.

13.01.2022 Competition Secretary report, for the June, 2020 Goblet. Normally a monthly competition, the goblet had to be suspended whilst restrictions were in place due to the pandemic. As a result we only have three more goblets until the end of the competition, however, we did have three un-awarded goblets because of these restrictions. The decision was made to award two goblets per competition and so the month we had Snapper and Tailor as the goblet species. There was no BBQ gather...ing and presentation. The weekend was actively contested with a total of thirty eight fish being entered by nine anglers which were three ladies and six men. We are aware that other members fished but without entering fish they may or may not have caught. The winner of the Goblet for Snapper was Bruce Kennedy with 58 cm and 123.2 points. There were no Tailor caught so that will carry over. Men's Outside This also also Bruce Kennedy with his above mentioned Snapper. Ladies Outside This was awarded to Rachel Weatherby with a Flathead of 49.2 cm and 80.6 points. Ladies Rock and Beach Rachael Kennedy won this with a Salmon 52.5 cm and 86.25 points. Mystery Fish By random generator was number 22 which is Tailor and none were entered. This will jackpot. The July Goblet provisionally with be the carry over Tailor ad with Salmon and Bream as the target species.
