23.01.2022 Shared with permission from the Upper Upper North Shore Free Stuff Sydney. Drop off is South Turramurra, requested within a month. We are sending a container of... stuff to Senegal in West Africa soon. Do you have anything you would like to contribute? Perhaps we could help take the stuff youve earmarked for donations? The charities here arent collecting at the moment, and we guarantee nothing will end up in a warehouse - everything will be distributed within a short time after arriving. We can send anything that is in good condition - kitchen crockery, appliances, furniture, flooring, doors and windows, bedding and towels, office furniture, laptops, mobile phones, TVs, fridges, microwaves, toys, bikes, scooters, helmets, clothes, tents, gazebos, power cords - absolutely anything in good condition (except books in English. French is ok if you have them). Maybe friends or family are moving, redecorating or renovating. Or maybe you know someone who is getting rid of office furniture or electronics. Could you think of us if anything comes up? The more we can fit into the container, the more joy we spread at the other end, and we are sure to repurpose our over-abundance here. Thanks Pic is of me under a boabab tree in a rural area of Senegal See more

22.01.2022 Shared with permission from the South Turramurra Community group: Morning all ... sorry for a downer of a post on a Sunday morning, but the incident I witnessed... last week has been bugging me ... after the incident I chatted with the staff who advised there has been a sudden increase in kids from both TPS & THS who seem you think that paying for items @ the local IGA is optional - when challenged as to whether they have accidentally forgotten to pay respond with foul and are offensive language or simply run out the door. They are stuffing items into school/sport bags or under their outer clothing jackets etc If you think your child is involved - please go see the management team - before you get the knock on the door from the police or a call from the schools as video footage is being looked at and still photos taken to identify the kids involved. None of us ever want to think our kids are doing the wrong thing .. and I would be beside myself if it was one of mine ... however it is our job to parent our kids not the schools or local businesses.

20.01.2022 A FURTHER UPDATE ON THE DODGY TREE PRUNERS FROM A RESIDENT OF TRENTINO RD TURRAMURRA - THEY CAME BACK!! They came back a week later and tried the same trick, claiming that my neighbour had complained that my tree was over her power lines. She hadn't and it wasn't. The other one is of pronounced Middle Eastern appearance, 5ft 8, slim build, olive skin, very short black hair and trimmed beard, large aquiline nose and prominent chin. Of course I refused. A little while after they left I had a phone call purporting to be from my neighbour "John from next door" again complaining about my tree. My neighbour's name isn't John. Both visits were on a Tuesday. This has been reported to the police.

13.01.2022 A warning from one of our residents on Friday: Hi there - I live in Turramurra and this afternoon at about 15:30 I spotted some suspicious activity in my street. A man in his about his 40s was walking onto each persons properties with a long stick and a mirror and taking pictures of their gates and intercoms. He was on each property for no more than 1 minute and didnt knock at the front door or anything. I watched him go up and down the street doing this. It felt very suspi...cious to me. He didnt see me and I did report it to the police. He had short brown hair, no facial hair, navy trousers, a yellow high vis vest, a backpack and some kind of phone/device. Not sure if anyone else has reported anything similar? It was central Turramurra, between Bobbin Head Road and Bannockburn Street.

12.01.2022 Hey all, Not sure if this is an appropriate forum but wanted to share to ensure everyones safety, particularly children. Please delete if not appropriate. Thi...s afternoon whilst on a walk with my dog. I was approached by a young man, approximately 28-35 years, who asked me for directions at the corner of Bangalla and Warrawee avenue. He asked me for directions to a location in Wahroonga. During the interaction, he asked me personal questions such as where I lived, whether I had a boyfriend. He also tried to stop me from leaving the interaction. When I tried to walk away he asked me to help him navigate to his destination. I said, "no, I am not comfortable". I walked away. Further down Hastings road, I noticed he was following me in his older silver/grey Kia Carnival, approximately 1999 year. I thought to share this for the safety of others and our youth as this is near schools. Again, please remove if inappropriate.

10.01.2022 PLEASE BE VIGILANT. Weve had a number of break and enters and steal from motor vehicles in the lower section of our command over the last week. It appears tha...t doors and windows of some of the properties were closed but not locked, allowing the thieves easy access to the victims homes. When you leave your home please ensure that your windows and doors are not simply closed but locked. If you have an alarm, remember to activate it. If your car is parked in the street or your driveway, remember to lock it. If youre working in your rear backyard then remember to lock the front door and windows. The harder you make it for a criminal to steal from you what is yours, the more likely they will go elsewhere and find an easier victim.

07.01.2022 There has been an increasing number of daytime break and enters in the Wahroonga and Turramurra area. These offences have been occurring at various times dur...ing the day and the offenders are simply opening unlocked near doors or removing a flyscreen and jemmied the lock of the rear door and smashing it open. Make yourselves harder targets for thieves, protect your home and reduce your chance of becoming a victim of a break and enter. Detection: Keep your eyes and ears open for suspicious vehicles and persons in the area of your residence. Do not confront possible suspects. Record the licence numbers and description of suspicious vehicles. Record detailed descriptions of occupants of suspicious vehicles. Report your concerns and observations immediately to the police. Provide your address and your phone number. Make would-be thieves visible, install motion lights or leave an exterior light on to illuminate entrance ways and rear yards. Dont hide keys in secret places. Instead leave a duplicate with a friend or neighbour. Prevention: Lock your doors and secure any open windows prior to retiring for the evening. Borrow an engraver, engrave your valuable belongings. This may discourage theft of valuables and will provide an easy way to identify stolen property. Use a personal identification mark such as your drivers licence number when engraving your property. For deterrent purposes, the identification marks should be easily identifiable. Record the contents of your home on paper or using a video camera. Record the serial numbers of your property. Remove expensive articles from sight when away from home for extensive periods. Dont leave articles out, such as axes and tools that could be used to assist in breaking into your residence. Establish relationships with neighbours and check on each others property when away. Lock and secure your property and outside belongings. Invest in an alarm system. If you are away, make sure that your residence looks like it is occupied. Have the the mail collected and the grass cut. Make use timers to have lights coming on and going off at different intervals. Avoid posting on social media sites when you are away from your residence. FORGETTING TO LOCK YOUR FRONT OR BACK DOOR OR USE THE WINDOW LOCKS JUST MAKES IT EASY FOR THIEVES TO ENTER YOUR HOME.

04.01.2022 Shared with permission from the South Turramurra Community group: Hi all, we are on Barwon Avenue and this morning we found the windscreen of one of our cars sm...ashed in with a large rock left in front of the car. Looks like someone deliberately aimed at it, considering the car is parked to the side and there are trees blocking it from the road. So not happy. We recently moved into the area 2-3 months ago, and with having to be even more careful with finances, this is one thing we did not need. Dont know if anyone saw or heard anything or have any CCTV footage etc but if you did/do, please let me know. Thank you in advance. So disappointing and disheartening.

02.01.2022 WARNING SHARED FROM A RESIDENT IN TRENTINO RD TURRAMURRA Beware of a tree lopper called Eddie. He is of Maori or Pacific Islander appearance, tall and with very short dark hair. He pretended to have been sent by my neighbour to trim trees next to our dividing fence because their leaves were said to be blocking her gutter. The card he gave me did not correspond to the logo on his shirt, which was something like Shore Trees. When I called the number on the card, they'd never heard of him. I spoke to my neighbour and she said she knew nothing about it and hadn't sent him. He cheated me out of several hundred dollars for work which was unnecessary.
