25.01.2022 In the light of the COVID-19 situation in Victoria and the knife-edge that NSW is on at the moment in terms of trying to keep its cases low ... last night the Uniting Church in NSW sent out an email in response to the NSW Premiers strong recommendations regarding social gatherings. (https://nswact.uca.org.au//covid19-guidance-note-14-update). In terms of worship, the key recommendations from the NSW synod are: All congregations in NSW and ACT refrain from face to face ...worship at this time. Services should continue to be streamed or recorded to enable people to engage in worship. Should any congregation feel they must gather face to face, every participant should wear a face mask. No singing of any kind. This includes community, congregational or choir led Church Council have been considering this for the last 18 hours and have concluded that we have no real choice except to pause our current hybrid model and to go back to online only worship (especially as everyone would have to wear a mask and we cant have a live band singing!!!) It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close the church for in-person worship at the 9am and 6:30pm services for the next three weeks (9th, 16th and the 23rd August) and reassess at the Church Council meeting on the 18th August. The 9am and 6:30pm will run ONLINE ONLY at our Facebook livestream (www.facebook.com/turramurrauniting/live) and the 10:45am will be pre-recorded and available on our YouTube channel - just like we did for 3 months in April, May and June. We hope that this closure will be short lived ... maybe as short as 4-6 weeks. At least we have a flexible worship system (and talented tech people) that allows us to adapt easily.

25.01.2022 As Fathers Day celebrations draw to a close, we will drawing on different technological ideas to engage in a congregation wide discussion / panel on the topic of whether it is helpful, relevant or politically correct to talk about God being our Father? We are a church that is open to hearing and engaging with different opinions and insights and we would love for you to connect in and join the discussion. We will also take some time to acknowledge the joy and complexity that Fathers Day brings.

24.01.2022 We are so pumped to have Steve Molkentin, a.k.a the Molk, coming to share with us his story (and other apologies). Molk is a key member of PULSE, the Uniting Church NSW Synod initiative to encourage and support young people and young adults. We’d love to have you come along or connect in to not only hear Molk’s story but get to meet him too.

24.01.2022 This Sunday we are starting a new sermon series called Love Story looking at three love stories from the bible (both romantic and deep friendship stories) and allow them to give us an insight into the nature of Gods love for us and our call to love one another. This week we have the love story from the Old Testament book of Song of Songs a story of romantic love of two people who are truly, madly, deeply in love. They seem to understand healthy desire and have found a place of trust, mutuality and giving of yourself to one another. What insight does their relationship give to us about Gods love for us? A key phrase that we will focus on is the idea of Gods banner over me is love and talk about the idea that Gods love is surrounding us, protecting us, covering us.

23.01.2022 After the year that we have had, we all need a rest - and so today worship is a simple, pre-recorded worship service for you to enjoy. We still have great singing (contributions from the different worship services), as well as a kids talk and Jonty will be sharing about 5 things he has learnt from 2020.

23.01.2022 Waiting on God is quite a common experience in the Bible but what does it mean to trust in Gods timing. We know live in a world which is so fast-paced and we demand everything to be instantaneous is this biblical concept even relevant anymore? Using a number of different stories from the Bible including a classic story about Saul doing his business in a cave Phil will help us explore what it means to engage in active waiting.

21.01.2022 One of the things that sometimes is annoying is when people use Jargon big words that only people involved understand. Christianity has plenty of big Jargon words that many people have no idea of what they mean, yet some of these jargon words point to profound concepts. This week Phil is going to explore three of these jargon words sacramental, transubstantiation and consubstantiation explaining what they mean and how they apply to our life and faith! It will also be a time of Communion so whether you are in-person or watching online, it is BYO Elements!

21.01.2022 Ruby/Mals kids talk on Love from last Sunday mornings worship. Worth a watch!

20.01.2022 Late last year, the Refugee Council declared 2020 as a "Year of Welcome", a year when we consider what it means for countries and individuals to open their hearts to the people around the world in desperate need. Then COVID19 arrived and everything closed, including most countries borders. How can we continue to have open hearts when COVID has closed everything. This Sunday Phil will be exploring a number of ideas on this theme including: * Using the passage from Genesis ...18:1-15 about Sarah and Abraham to explore how our faith is connected to how we welcome and be hospitable to those who come from elsewhere? * Interviewing Anne Cornford about why she is participating in the "Refugee Ration Challenge" * Pondering how the experience of dislocation and unsettleness that COVID19 has brought us might give us an insight into how refugees feel * Being open to how "welcome" might help us and other feel a sense of peace and settledness We encourage you to connect with us online with an open mind and open heart.

20.01.2022 What has two sticks and Velcro got to do with the importance of connection in the church? This Sunday night we will use an Old Testament prophecy by Ezekiel and a modern day invention to explore how we can encourage a deeper connection with God and each other and how to help those who feel disconnected. We’d love to welcome you either online or in-person.

18.01.2022 As we continue to move through some of the things that can "trip us up" in our spiritual growth, this Sunday morning in our 9am worship we look at the whole issue of distraction. We live in our society that has so many things to grab our attention or focus that we struggle to not get distracted from the normal things in life - let lone distracted from our spiritual growth. Opening up the parable of the 10 bridesmaids we will explore how we might be able to resist or at least minimise distraction and allow God to help us to spiritually growth.

18.01.2022 This Sunday is the last Sunday of our Advent journey and we have planned a quiet, more reflective service for us to engage with. The Bible reading is the story of Anna and Simeon, two people who spoke over the baby Jesus and declared him to be the one who has come to save. But Luke when writing his gospel highlighted the fact that both Simeon and Anna had a process of waiting, or pausing, before they got to the point of prophesying over Jesus. I wonder, if we had a chance to ...talk with Simeon and Anna that they might say that the pause, the wait was an important part of the process. I wonder what might we experience if we took some time this Christmas to pause for a moment or to slow down in prayer or worship. Due to the "soft lockdown" that the NSW Premier has announced for this weekend, we are encouraging people except the worship and music team to please stay at home and join us online. For those in the building masks will be mandatory at all time except when leading up the front.

17.01.2022 just a reminder that worship this morning is Combined Online Only worship at the holiday friendly time of 10am. Join us live here on Facebook at 10am ... or watch at a time convenient for you at our YouTube channel. Jonty is sharing about some spiritual insights that he has learnt from 2020 and Phil has a great kids talk about Camels. https://www.facebook.com/turramurrauniting/live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5c_Pnme3co

16.01.2022 Wrapping up our series on Trip Hazards (things that can trip us up in our spiritual growth) by looking at the issue of Fear. Is Fear always bad? How can fear hinder spiritual growth? The reading is Matthew 25:14-30 the parable of the talents. Phil will be exploring this passage from a couple of different perspective both highlighting the danger of fear and also the importance of standing for what we believe is right, even when we are fearful.

16.01.2022 The Night Church worship team have been aware that many of us - and in particular many young people of our community - are finding life under COVID-19 hard. We have been wrestling with how we can in a helpful way explore this issue from a faith perspective. This Sunday Jonty has lined up a great interview with Grant Bickerton who will share with us some observations, tools and insights from his work and ministry. Grant has a long connection with our church and is also a counselling psychologist who is currently working with young people in Victoria dealing with a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression. Jonty has already recorded the interview and tells me that "Sunday night is going to be so good". We encourage you to connect in and be blessed through this important message.

16.01.2022 Join the Zoom Morning Tea - after the 9am service http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp

15.01.2022 This Sunday we will be acknowledging and celebrating Fathers Day in our online with a number of creative ideas. For the main input in the service, Phil will be inviting some new ways of participation as together we explore different passages of the Bible and the parental characteristics that scripture applies to God Our Father in Heaven. We would love for you to connect with us for Fathers Day.

15.01.2022 This Sunday night, Night Church is hosting a visit from Matt Gillan, a.k.a MadMatt - 4WD YouTuber and all-round great bloke. MadMatt will be sharing with us some of his crazy adventures, video and is even bringing along his racing 4WD. Matt will also be sharing a little about why he has stuck with Jesus. If you can't make it to the church they you can watch all the action here on our livestream!

14.01.2022 Tonight we were supposed to be joining together for a huge celebration of Jonty's work as our CYF worker as we acknowledge the closure of ministry, but due to the "soft lockdown" that we are under this weekend, we decided we could not celebrate properly as a community in an online only service. So we are postponing Jonty's Closure of Ministry celebration until February and instead offering this online only service exploring how we might be able to find joy in the waiting...

13.01.2022 This advent our church is focusing on the theme of Joy. After the year that we have had, with all its disruptions and pandemics this idea of embracing joy this Christmas seems to be more important than ever. In our Bible reading we will hear the angels declaring that they have come to bring Good news of great Joy to the world. What is it about Christmas that can bring us joy and how do we enter into this spirit of Joy this Christmas?

12.01.2022 A reminder from the "Christmas; just different" team that if you are planning to attend either of the Christmas Eve services, you need to book. Bookings open tomorrow (Dec 1). All the details are below.

11.01.2022 To say Phil is excited about this last sermon in our Romans 8 sermon series would be a massive understatement. So far we heard the good news that there is no condemnation for those in Jesus, that God see us (and adopts us) as the children of God, that the Spirit helps us in our struggles in life and this week we hear the answer to the question, Can anything ever separate us from the love of God?. Remember this service will be online only, so dont come the church no-one will be there! Rather, jump online here at our Facebook LIVE page at 9am Sunday and enjoy the online gathering and interaction that our 9am worshiping family are known for!

11.01.2022 Looking forward to 9am worship in just over an hour. A music quiz, creative kids talk, great worship songs, a Eunice prayer, Pete and Barb share a classic bible reading where the readers are almost as good as the reading, and to top it all off, a wonderful love story! Wed love to see you connecting with us online! https://www.facebook.com/turramurrauniting/live_videos/

10.01.2022 Last week MadMatt shared with us his story of finding purpose for his life through his faith in Jesus. Today Phil is building on this idea by asking the question, Is there a difference between believing in Jesus and knowing Jesus?. Using a weird passage from 1 John, Phil will explore how to move beyond belief into a faith where we have passed the point of no return and also a little bit about the antichrist.

09.01.2022 Continuing our series looking at Love Stories from the bible, this week we explore one that has heartbreak and pain as well as an example of unconditional love. The story of Hosea and Gomer from the Old Testament covers the ups and downs of a relationship and how it reflects the unconditional love that God offers us.

08.01.2022 In our last week in our LoveStory series we are jumping into the gospels to explore some of the key friendships of Jesus and how Jesus gave us an example of how to love. Jesus lived a life of love he had deep friendships with Mary, Martha & Lazarus; he had a honest and sometimes confrontation relationship with the teachers of the law; and he lived life with his disciples and encouraged them to continue his ministry of love. Dont miss this wrap up of this insightful sermon series.

08.01.2022 Happy New Year! We are continuing our 2021 Summer Series with a simple, pre-recorded worship service for you to enjoy. 07.01.2022 We are thrilled that this Sunday night Marty Cornford is coming to preach and Marty has chosen a really interesting passage Nahum chapter 1. Nahum is a lesser known prophet with a full-on message about Gods anger and wrath but within this message is some profound Good News. Dont miss Martys insight into how this minor prophet points to Jesus!

05.01.2022 A few months ago while chatting with some of our church’s young adults, the comment was made that after the year that we have had, with all its disruptions and pandemics, maybe this Christmas we need to focus on JOY. And so this Advent as we prepare for Christmas, that is what we are going to do. In our Bible reading we will hear the angels declaring that they have come to bring Good news of great Joy to the world. What is it about Christmas that can bring us joy and how do we enter into this spirit of Joy this Christmas?

04.01.2022 As 2020 begins to draw to a close, guest speaker Rev Peter Robinson will remind us of the profound truth that God is with us in the difficult times of life. Rev Peter has a wonderful gift in being able to relate the text to real life, and in this sharing will link the Old Testament prophet Isaiah, with the promises of God’s presence and help and ultimate point to the saviour Jesus. This is a talk not to be missed.

03.01.2022 In light of the NSW governments recommendation to wear masks in enclosed public spaces, including places of worship, we are encouraging you to wear a mask to church tonight.
