25.01.2022 Some rescued Eastern Long necks ready to start a new life in paradise! #paradise #rescuedturtles #happy #newhome #safe

22.01.2022 Today was another busy day! Over the last couple of weeks with all the rain & turtle breeding season here, we have had many turtles handed to us that have been rescued from roads & from suburban backyards.Today we got 3. One was rescued from the road myself & the other two were rescued from roads by members of the public. One of them is blind in one eye, possibly pecked by a bird or from a fishing hook previously in her life.#easternlongneckturtle #rescued #roads #suburbs #oneeye

20.01.2022 Another Turtle Rescue completed today. Despite the heavy rain, we still successfully rescued 40 Eastern Long neck turtles from this dewatered dam. When turtles need rescuing, we work rain, hail or shine.

17.01.2022 Yesterday on the way to pick up a turtle from Oran Park that had been rescued off a road from a motorist, I happened to rescue 4 more on a 100 metre stretch of the new Northern Rd at Luddenham. The turtles were coming from the direction of the Badgery’s Creek airport site & heading towards the other side of the road where many farm dams are situated near Willowdene Avenue. This has been a migration route that they have used over many decades before the new Northern Rd was co...nstructed. 3 of the turtles were lucky as I saved them just as they were about to cross the road & the other one was found with bad shell damage due to a vehicle hit & left to suffer on the side of the road. There were plenty of squashed ones around there as well. We have had many other people contacting us over the last 2 weeks about many squashed turtles in this same spot with the wet weather & it being breeding season. It would be a great if Penrith Council could erect some Turtle Crossing signs along the Northern Rd & also on Castlereagh Rd to make people be more aware & to at least give these animals a better chance of survival. #novemberrain #easternlongneckturtle #watchoutforturtlesontheroad #penrithcitycouncil #migrating #westernsydneyairport See more

16.01.2022 Nothing better than snorkelling for the Endangered Manning River Turtle in NSW. Here are a couple of snaps of Darren and Shannon with some hauls of the endanger...ed turtle. Do you like our camouflaged wetsuits? So we can sneak up on them in the water... The bags are used to hold the turtles when they were being captured (through snorkelling). They were in them temporarily until being transferred to a large tub of water for processing. All work was undertaken under approved relevant permits and other governmental approvals (including animal ethics permits).

11.01.2022 After green sea turtle Billie was spotted by concerned diver Tamila Dalila at Cabbage Tree Bay reserve in Manly, he was diagnosed with a potentially fatal blood... disease, septicaemia. Tamila and other locals set up a GoFundMe page to cover vet, food and medicine bills, and a team of volunteers from Australian Seabird Rescue, including Robert Olive, Alison Taylor and her daughter Kelsey, nursed Billie to health. After months of rehabilitation, Billie was released back into the bay on October 11 by Kelsey. He’s since been spotted twice and looks fantastic, says Alison. I’m hoping he goes out there and has lots and lots of babies. Learn more about ‘Team Billie’ here http://go.nrma.com.au/TeamBillie. See more

10.01.2022 With last nights rain, turtles were out again. Three were rescued & picked up by us from members of the public around Western Sydney. One poor 3 legged female had been hit by a car & has a damaged shell that isn’t life threatening. Thank you to everyone that is looking out for them on the roads. The more people that look out & save them, gives a chance for these animals to live on in a safer environment that they deserve. #rescuedturtles #roads #aquatic #safe #liveon

07.01.2022 Some rescued turtles picked up today from the Northern Rd coming out from the New Western Sydney Airport site after a storm. The site had over 200 farm dams & already some have been drained & backfilled during earthworks so far. #rescuedturtles #westernsydneyairport #northernroad #storms #migrating

02.01.2022 Yesterday, we travelled down to the Southern Highlands to rescue some turtles. The site is the new Austral brick quarry & this dam is going to dug out to increase its capacity. We rescued all the turtles & released them in the nearby river. The turtles varied in size from 23cm to 10cm. It is as great to find a couple of young ones in the mix. This has to be one of the most picturesque sites that we have worked on so far. Thank you to Peter from Austral Bricks for making contact with us & using our services to help these animals.

02.01.2022 When you work with turtles, you are always on the look out for them when driving & especially in rural areas. Just like this girl that I spotted on the side of the road!

01.01.2022 The sad part of our work is the large amount of injured turtles that come into our care. This poor female had been hit on the road, was bleeding from the mouth & was on deaths door. She died shortly afterwards but we managed to retrieve 8 eggs from her. We just hope that they are fertile so that her babies can aid with the survival of a rapidly declining species.#deadturtle #eggs #roadkill #hope #sad
