24.01.2022 You have seen Turtle Islands and fences over the last few weeks. The 1 Million Turtle Project (HTTP://1MillionTurtles.com) is supporting a Turtles in a Schools program too. Congrats all.

23.01.2022 Rebecca Tolhurst’s daughter took this photo of turtles down at the lagoon at Rockhampton Botanic Gardens. Thanks Rebecca for our new cover photo!

22.01.2022 What happens when wetlands are "de-watered" in #WesternSydney Animals like eels and turtles, inactive during winter, are forced to leave and hit on roads. Others are buried alive. New study quantifying wetland loss. 40K turtles have been killed/displaced... Community Conservation groups like Turtle Rescues New South Wales, Turtles Australia Inc, Turtles Albury Wodonga and WIRES do life saving rescues almost every day. 15.01.2022 Look out for a heap of Broadshell nesting activity in the mid-upper Murray soon! http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN21037.shtml

09.01.2022 Yesterday we posted a photo of a turtle nesting at the top of the bank in an open area. Take a look at the video here how this behaviour is being utilised to construct a simple fence to help guide turtles to nesting grounds and protect the nests from foxes. This is all part of the http://1MillionTurtles.com community conservation program that will ramp up next year.... We will provide links soon for community groups and the public to sign up and become involved. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sIMjaX1ZqQ

06.01.2022 This is cheap and works

06.01.2022 Our hatchling Manning River turtles are growing so quickly and now weigh around 6 grams! They still have lots of growing to do but are definitely in the best hands! What do you think this little dude is thinking about?

04.01.2022 Sly as a Snake....or Panther! Last year saw the first successful reproduction of the Roti Island Snake-necked Turtle (Chelodina mccordi) at our Turtle Survival ...Center. By year's end, 13 of these ophidian turtles had hatched. Endemic to the small Indonesian island of Rote, this critically endangered turtle is extinct in the wild. Now, plans are underway to reintroduce it. 03.01.2022 Short-necked Turtles are out. They are the Vacuums of the Wetland. Read more about their role in the ecosystem here. https://www.abc.net.au//how-turtles-can-help-murr/12678820

01.01.2022 This is a common site throughout most of Australia. Tatura Turtles are doing a great job recording turtle and nest sightings this year. Thanks so much.

01.01.2022 Pls share ... These guys do a simply amazing job with Australian turtle rescue and have been working with Aussie Ark with the Manning River Turtle conservation ...program. Recently their large turtle tank failed so if you could get on board to donate a few dollars (enough people with even a dollar or two can make a big difference) to help replace it would be brilliant ... Oh and like there page for some amazing turtle and other stories. https://m.facebook.com/MRTConservation/
