21.01.2022 A note about our courses. If you read our website we are clear about the services we offer, what we are and are not. Our welding course (2 days) is an introduction to Aluminium welding. Great for anyone who has MIG welded steel before. We have also had success teaching people who have never MIG before. Like any trade skill after 12 hours, you will still be a beginner. This course gives people enough confidence to safely practice on their own and develop their skills. No accre...ditation is offered. Boat Building Course (4 days) is an introduction to how pre-cut aluminium boats are assembled. If you are thinking about building your own Aluminium boat then this course is a great staring point to assess your own capability. No accreditation is offered. AS1665 Assessment. We offer assessment to the Australian standard. When people can demonstrate appropriate levels of competence, we offer assessment sessions. A two or four day course will not replace a 4 year apprenticeship, 20 years of welding or ship building experience. And we dont claim it will.

02.01.2022 As a rule we try to stay away from Fiberglass, but this repair has a few good lessons that I thought I would share. 1. When buying a boat always get a survey inspection. This is the same as a pink slip for a car. Though costs about $600 but worth every cent.. 2. Buy an Aluminium boat. Alu wont rot like this! Over the long term Alu hulls hold their value. ... This Maxum bowrider is otherwise a great boat with lots of life left in her. Hull is sound and Mercruiser is in perfect condition. Therefore worth the effort to repair the floor. Note the original flotation foam and how water logged it is, 48 hours after opening the floor and it was still bleeding water. Has been replaced with new high buoyancy foam rapped in heat shrink plastic to keep the water out.
