25.01.2022 Kane with a captured Whip Snake!

25.01.2022 It takes a Whole life to win this trust

25.01.2022 With last nights rain, turtles were out again. Three were rescued & picked up by us from members of the public around Western Sydney. One poor 3 legged female had been hit by a car & has a damaged shell that isn’t life threatening. Thank you to everyone that is looking out for them on the roads. The more people that look out & save them, gives a chance for these animals to live on in a safer environment that they deserve. #rescuedturtles #roads #aquatic #safe #liveon

24.01.2022 Another week done & dusted & more turtles saved from drained dams. #rescuedturtle #development #turtleman #liveaction #mud

23.01.2022 These 2 water dragons hatched today. They were dug up by a machine on a development site whilst still in the egg. They were put in an incubator & successfully hatched. They are the first of 8 eggs to have hatched so far. #hatchlings #reptiles #easternwaterdragons #cute #new

21.01.2022 Nothing better than snorkelling for the Endangered Manning River Turtle in NSW. Here are a couple of snaps of Darren and Shannon with some hauls of the endanger...ed turtle. Do you like our camouflaged wetsuits? So we can sneak up on them in the water... The bags are used to hold the turtles when they were being captured (through snorkelling). They were in them temporarily until being transferred to a large tub of water for processing. All work was undertaken under approved relevant permits and other governmental approvals (including animal ethics permits).

21.01.2022 After green sea turtle Billie was spotted by concerned diver Tamila Dalila at Cabbage Tree Bay reserve in Manly, he was diagnosed with a potentially fatal blood... disease, septicaemia. Tamila and other locals set up a GoFundMe page to cover vet, food and medicine bills, and a team of volunteers from Australian Seabird Rescue, including Robert Olive, Alison Taylor and her daughter Kelsey, nursed Billie to health. After months of rehabilitation, Billie was released back into the bay on October 11 by Kelsey. He’s since been spotted twice and looks fantastic, says Alison. I’m hoping he goes out there and has lots and lots of babies. Learn more about ‘Team Billie’ here http://go.nrma.com.au/TeamBillie. See more

21.01.2022 These two are happy now!

21.01.2022 A nice Eel we rescued on the job today! #eel #slimy #fish #rescued #big

20.01.2022 Another Turtle Rescue completed today. Despite the heavy rain, we still successfully rescued 40 Eastern Long neck turtles from this dewatered dam. When turtles need rescuing, we work rain, hail or shine.

19.01.2022 We started on a new development site today & managed to rescue a few turtles so far. One turtle in particular has signs of an old shell injury that has been repaired by a vet or someone else in the past. It has mended itself well, left with the unusual appearance. #rescuedturtle #development #rescue #dams #wildlife

19.01.2022 Yesterday on the way to pick up a turtle from Oran Park that had been rescued off a road from a motorist, I happened to rescue 4 more on a 100 metre stretch of the new Northern Rd at Luddenham. The turtles were coming from the direction of the Badgery’s Creek airport site & heading towards the other side of the road where many farm dams are situated near Willowdene Avenue. This has been a migration route that they have used over many decades before the new Northern Rd was co...nstructed. 3 of the turtles were lucky as I saved them just as they were about to cross the road & the other one was found with bad shell damage due to a vehicle hit & left to suffer on the side of the road. There were plenty of squashed ones around there as well. We have had many other people contacting us over the last 2 weeks about many squashed turtles in this same spot with the wet weather & it being breeding season. It would be a great if Penrith Council could erect some Turtle Crossing signs along the Northern Rd & also on Castlereagh Rd to make people be more aware & to at least give these animals a better chance of survival. #novemberrain #easternlongneckturtle #watchoutforturtlesontheroad #penrithcitycouncil #migrating #westernsydneyairport See more

18.01.2022 Today was another busy day! Over the last couple of weeks with all the rain & turtle breeding season here, we have had many turtles handed to us that have been rescued from roads & from suburban backyards.Today we got 3. One was rescued from the road myself & the other two were rescued from roads by members of the public. One of them is blind in one eye, possibly pecked by a bird or from a fishing hook previously in her life.#easternlongneckturtle #rescued #roads #suburbs #oneeye

18.01.2022 The first critically endangered White-throated Snapping Turtle nests have been protected for the season in the Fitzroy catchment

16.01.2022 When you work with turtles, you are always on the look out for them when driving & especially in rural areas. Just like this girl that I spotted on the side of the road!

15.01.2022 The sad part of our work is the large amount of injured turtles that come into our care. This poor female had been hit on the road, was bleeding from the mouth & was on deaths door. She died shortly afterwards but we managed to retrieve 8 eggs from her. We just hope that they are fertile so that her babies can aid with the survival of a rapidly declining species.#deadturtle #eggs #roadkill #hope #sad

13.01.2022 A few cute species we rescued on a site today! #babyturtle #turtleman #greentreefrog #eel #saved #development

10.01.2022 It's World Turtle Day! We're proud to contribute to freshwater turtle conservation here in Australia and abroad, by supporting the greater body of science on w...hich efforts are based. WILD is a proud member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission - Tortoises and Freshwater Turtles Specialist Group where we hope to conserve and protect the world's Chelonian biodiversity. Here's a photo of new life to celebrate. Now that's WILD! Eastern Long Neck (Chelodina longicollis)

08.01.2022 Some rescued turtles picked up today from the Northern Rd coming out from the New Western Sydney Airport site after a storm. The site had over 200 farm dams & already some have been drained & backfilled during earthworks so far. #rescuedturtles #westernsydneyairport #northernroad #storms #migrating

08.01.2022 Some rescued Eastern Long necks ready to start a new life in paradise! #paradise #rescuedturtles #happy #newhome #safe

07.01.2022 Today we did something a bit different. A well established turtle breeder we know has decided to move house & downsize. He needed a new home for his turtles so we made the trip to his residence. He had the ponds drained down to a low level to make it easy to catch all of the turtles. We even found 2 baby ones that were living amongst the adults. The turtles will be living out there lives at Turtle Town & Wild! Thanks Benjamin Jagger for the hand today & all the best to Barry Kennard from Bathurst Turtles for the future & for his contribution he has made to freshwater turtle conservation over the years.

05.01.2022 We picked up this girl today after she was found on a front lawn in the middle of suburbia. She will be relocated to an alternative safe, secluded body of water. #rescued #safe #easternlongneckturtle #native #turtleman

02.01.2022 On World Turtle Day - May 23 - look out for injured turtles on our roads. St Angela's Primary School student Alana, has asked The Hills Police to put a call out... on World Turtle Day to ask Hills motorists to look out for turtles that may be injured or straying onto our roads. With increased development in the area, the numbers of native long neck turtles being injured on our roads is increasing. If you require advice about injured turtles please contact Turtle Rescues New South Wales. So, this Sunday drive, dont speed and get to where you need to go safely... there's probably a kids story about turtles and rodents and not having to rush to get to where you need to go. See more

02.01.2022 Over the last couple of days we have had 4 Eastern Long necks handed to us that have been rescued from roads. Two were ok & the other two have been hit badly by vehicles. The shells have been repaired & hopefully they will recover from their injuries. #injured #easternlongneckturtle #rescued #repaired #roads
