25.01.2022 Sad to say, but Miriam the large (112cm) female, green turtle had deceased some time before washing into Jamieson Park Scarborough. She would have been around 90years old, and started breeding at around 40 yrs old. a lovely looking lady, with one old healed scar. Possible natural causes (disease). Thankyou @Lauren Prince and @Katrina Boyce for notifying us. We had two turtle scientists with us, that we are trying to encourage to help Turtles of Moreton Bay. Thanks citizen scientist Katrina and Laura for travelling from the Boondall Education Centre to assist.

20.01.2022 Another deceased 46 cm green turtle on Margate Beach out from my place. A lovely couple that reported this poor turtle ( possibly natural causes), waited there for 3 hours. Dedication to wildlife protection. Thank you friends.

18.01.2022 Olive Ridley sea turtles are the smallest of the 6 Turtles we see off Australian Shores. Closely related to the Kemp Ridley. The differences being the head and carapace (shell) size. The Olive Ridley having more Coastal Shutes (side scales on carapace) and has 1 to 2 claws on the front and rear flippers The Olive Ridley sea turtle, also known commonly as the Pacific ridley sea turtle. The species is the second smallest and most abundant of all sea turtles found in the world No large rookeries of Olive Ridley turtles have been recorded in Australia. Olive Ridley turtles nest all year round, although most nesting occurs during the dry season from April to November. Females lay on average 109 large round, parchment-shelled eggs. Hatchlings emerge from the nests about two months after laying

02.01.2022 As Turtles of Moreton Bay move forward with our important role, we are lucky that Redcliffe Environmental Forum has auspiced us and supplied 4 trained stranding, data logging rescuers. Now we are planning for a magnetic logo for our rescue vehicle. One of our trained painted the green turtle, another had supplied the design. What do you think about it? I think it would look great on a T-shirt.

01.01.2022 Did we see this one.

01.01.2022 Hugo... Could be ET. A good looking fella for a living dinosaur

01.01.2022 Good people. Thankyou. We have some amazing young people that step up to assist our wonderful turtles in distress.
