25.01.2022 I have sadly had to make the call to cancel the rest of the our Saturday classes for term 1 due to coronavirus precautions. I have been keeping in line with the school policy and when Ensembles were cancelled at the school I teach at today, I decided to extend this to our ensemble too. I will be in touch closer to term 2 in mid April to see where we are at and go from there. The remaining classes will be credited to term 2 or whenever we start up again. ... Stay healthy
25.01.2022 Just finished our last rehearsal today and ready for our Christmas Eve performance at 5pm tomorrow. It is going to be great. Hope you can make it. Runs for approximately 45 minutes. Merry Christmas and hope to see you there.
25.01.2022 Tutti Flute Ensembles, both senior and junior did an amazing performance at Floreat Forum last Saturday 19th September 2020. Performance included an epic performance of the Beethoven Symphony 5 arranged for Flute ensemble as well as an arrangement of Walking in the Air by one of our own flute players, Kate Jolley. Very special and had a wonderdul supportive audience. Now looking forward to term 4!!!

22.01.2022 Term 4 Tutti flute ensembles start this Saturday 24/10/20 at st Edmund’s church, 52 Pangbourne st, wembley. 10:15am for the junior ensembles and 11am for the seniors. Look forward to seeing you all there. Best.
22.01.2022 I had to let you all know the wonderful news that Lachlan Skipworth, who is the local composer that spoke recently at the WA Flute Day, is releasing an album of his latest compositions and it is amazing. There is a shakuhachi (japanese flute) concerto being performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and it is just wonderful. I went to the album launch last Monday for a preview and I can highly recommend you will all love it. 16.01.2022 It is with great sadness I need to tell you all that our beautiful member, Kate Jolley (both flute, alto flute and composer/arranger) has passed away. I am so sorry to be the bearer of such sad news and I personally have been hit hard with this loss. Please contact me if you want to have a chat on 0414 638 734. I know she was a much loved member of our ensemble and this will be difficult for you all. Kate’s funeral will be Thursday 14th January 2021 at 9:30am at St Columbus ...Church, South Perth. It will feature Kate’s music as a performer, arranger and composer for flute. A wake will follow and I will forward you more details shortly when that is confirmed. I hope you can make it and find closure in being able to farewell her. If you can make make it, Kate’s parents have kindly asked if you can rsvp to me and i will let them know numbers so they can make arrangements. Sending lots of love to you all at this very sad time.

13.01.2022 The 2021 WA Flute Competition will be going ahead LIVE on Saturday 1st May to Sunday 2nd Mayand is now open to register. Thanks to our sponsor Zenith Music, the Victoria Hall in Fremantle will be the venue supplied by a beautiful piano from Snadens to accompany all entrants. There is a section for everyone and flute players of all levels are encouraged to play. Ensembles are back for 2021, so register your school flute ensemble or ask a flute playing friend(s) to make a duet,... trio or quartet together. SECTIONS 10 years and under solo section (up to 3 minutes) 11 years and under solo section (up to 4 minutes) 12 years and under solo section (up to 5 minutes) 13 years and under solo section (up to 5 minutes) 14 years and under solo section (up to 5 minutes) 16 years and under solo section (up to 7 minutes) 18 years and under solo section (up to 12 minutes) Open solo section (up to 15 minutes) Orchestral Excerpts section 14 years and under ensemble section for 2 or more flutes (up to 6 Minutes) 15 years and over ensemble section for 2 or more flutes (up to 6 Minutes) PRIZES There are very generous prizes from the following sponsors: AMEB Flutes and Flutists WASO Zenith Music ACCOMPANISTS There are two official competition accompanists allocated for the 2021 WA Flute Competition.
