24.01.2022 Emma's comments are extremely disappointing. I know a lot of female backpackers, none of whom have sought work by getting their "boobs half out". But if a woman did use her sexuality to try to get work in our farming sector (or any sector), consider the context. Young women grow up in a world saturated with messages that they are sexual objects, to be valued and rewarded based on what they can offer sexually. Vulnerable young women who follow these messages need guidance and support from people like Emma. And employers need advice about how help change the exploitative culture that exists in some (not all) pockets of our farming sector. I haven't read the whole story yet because I can only see the front page, but it looks like Bill McClumpha has stepped up with some strong, positive leadership. What a relief someone gets it.
