19.01.2022 Meet our adjudicators Choirs - Paul Holley OAM Paul Holley is a choral conductor, educator and motivator. His personal warmth and passion for choral music have inspired many singers to discover and develop their skills as choral musicians. With over 25 years of teaching experience in schools and many years of working with adult community choirs Paul knows how to connect with singers of all ages and enjoys collaborating with them in the music-making process.... Presently, Paul is the Associate Director of Voices of Birralee and conducts two ensembles within this organisation, the Birralee Blokes and Resonance of Birralee. Both of these ensembles have toured nationally and internationally, won several competitions, made numerous recordings and supported community events. He is also the co-conductor of the national youth choir Gondwana Chorale. In addition to these roles, Paul is a workshop presenter, choral clinician, guest conductor, adjudicator and mentor to younger conductors. He was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in January 2016 for his services to choral music.

06.01.2022 Meet our adjudicators String Ensembles - Bronwyn Oswell Bronwyn Oswell is well known to many in the musical community of Toowoomba as she began her study of music (in particular the violin), with Spiros Rantos at the University of Southern Queensland (formerly the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education). For several years Bronwyn was an active member (as a violinist) of the Queensland Youth Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra and has held these organisations in hi...gh regard for their respective influences on her musical development. She commenced her musical professional life as Head of Strings at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, where she later was appointed Coordinator of Instrumental Music. Bronwyn continued her study of violin, viola, conducting and pedagogy at the Zoltan Kodaly Pedagogical Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary. After many years residing in Los Angeles, California both teaching violin and working in the film music industry, she returned to Australia to hold the position of Head of Strings at Downlands Sacred Heart College Toowoomba and later Head of Strings Wesley College (Glen Waverley Campus). Between 2016 until 2019 Bronwyn was Coordinator of Strings at Melbourne Grammar School, Grimwade House, where she runs the Year 2 String Program, teaches violin and viola, and directs and conducts all levels of string and chamber music ensembles. Currently, she holds the position of Head of Instrumental music at the MGS Grimwade House campus.

03.01.2022 Meet our adjudicators Instrumental & Contemporary Ensembles - Prof. Rob McWilliams Born and raised in Melbourne, Prof. Rob McWilliams holds a Ph. D. in Music from the University of Minnesota, a Master's degree in Instrumental Conducting from Florida State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Melbourne. Dr McWilliams served as Professor of Music and Director of Bands and Instrumental Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshko...sh (USA) from 1996 to 2014 where he conducted symphonic and jazz ensembles, and taught courses in conducting, music education, and jazz. From 2011 he also served as Head of the Music Department. Prof. McWilliams has travelled extensively as a guest conductor and clinician and has conducted and presented at major music conferences in all states of Australia as well as Japan, Hong Kong, the UK, Singapore, Europe, and China, including conferences of the World Association of Symphonic Bands & Ensembles and the Tutti International Youth Music Festival. Prof. McWilliams has been published in peer-reviewed professional publications and is a composer/arranger with Alfred's Music. In early 2015 he relocated to Brisbane, Australia and is currently working as Yamaha Music Australia’s Education Outreach Clinician and freelancing as a musician, educator, conductor, composer/arranger, and adjudicator.
01.01.2022 Meet our adjudicators Dance - John Clarke John has over 25 years’ experience in the professional Musical Theatre industry, working in critically acclaimed productions worldwide. As a highly respected and sought-after dancer, Resident Choreographer, Resident Director, Associate Choreographer and Lecturer, John now shares his knowledge of the industry with the future generation of performers here in Queensland and Redland Dance.... John undertook his professional training at Laine Theatre Arts, one of the UK’s most prestigious Musical Theatre schools. Soon after graduating, he successfully auditioned for the West End production of the musical of Grease, which paved the way for a Musical Theatre career spanning 25 years. His career has seen him work in London’s West End, Broadway, Las Vegas, Germany, Norway, Australia and New Zealand, working his way through the ranks of world-class productions. As a teacher and mentor, John is in high demand. He helped create and deliver a full-time Certificate IV Musical Theatre course in Brisbane. He is part of the faculty at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University where he helped to devise their Musical Theatre degree course and now teaches their Pre-Professional students.
