09.01.2022 Thank you to Tasmanian Gas Pipeline for silver sponsorship for the Tasmanian Works and Engineering Conference 2018: Tasmanian Gas Pipeline In August this year the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline celebrated 16 years since the first natural gas came to Tasmania. Constructed in 2002, the pipeline is over 730km long and delivers gas from Longford in Victoria to Bell Bay in Tasmanian and from there to Port Latta and Bridgewater.... The construction phase was an enormous project in Tasmania, on a scale rarely seen since the hydro dams were built. It is a steel welded pipeline with a special fusion bonded Epoxy coating, buried to a depth below most normal farming practice. With the burial depth and other protection measures implemented on and around the asset, to date we have not recorded a hit on the pipe. Managing third party activities and working with organisations like Local Government is vital in the ongoing integrity of the pipeline. While there have been a number of owners of the pipeline over the past 16 years, the TGP brand has remained the same. It is the one constant and is well known by all those that live, work and play around the asset. We acknowledge the vital role that local government has played in the ongoing safe operations of the pipeline. The pipeline passes through 13 council regions in Tasmania and we have an excellent working relationship with Planning, Works Management and Engineering departments within Council and we are very appreciative of your support and professionalism. Thank you again for having this opportunity to be part of the TAMS/IPWEA Annual Conference. See more
