16.01.2022 Hey there Tweed district, we need to have a chat. Over the past few days there has been a substantial amount of water fall from the skys resulting in some localised flooding. Accompanying that water has been some strong winds. Both those elements always causes damage in the way of leaky roofs, land slides, fallen trees, and blocked roads. Today, we are going to share with you a concept that is not new, in fact millions of dollars has been spent campaigning this message.... If it is flooded....forget it. That means if there is water across the road of the path you wish to travel, then please seek an alternative route or abandon your plans to travel. The next thing we need to understand is how to call for help. The Tweed Shire is so extremely lucky to be heavily resourced with emergency services. The SES is well set up for storm damage and flood activities, so if you need assistance you can call 132500. If you find yourself, or observe someone in a life threatening situation (including domestic animals) you should not hesitate to call 000. DO NOT try and call the local Fire+Rescue, Ambulance, SES, VRA, or Police administration phone numbers. CALL 000. Here is a fun fact, NSW Police are in charge of all rescues. Everything from a cat up a tree, to a road collision, to a persons stuck in flood water. From there the job is tasked to the most appropriate rescue resource. So, that is why it is so important to call 000 for any life threatening situation. It's not raining at this very moment of writing this message, but please let me assure you there are risks and hazards everywhere. So please stay vigilant and use commonsense. In the meantime Tweed Rescue is ready to respond to any task dispatched. Sincerely, Tweed District Rescue - VRA. Please like and share this message far and wide. #vrarescue NSW Volunteer Rescue Association Inc.
