11.01.2022 Is the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk the ultimate Jeep to holiday in? We put it to a test as a tow vehicle over a mid-long distance of roughly 1600 klms from Townsville to the Gold Coast. Towing a boat with a combined weight with trailer, fuel and bit and pieces of around 2300kg we managed a respectable 13.8L/100klm over the distance including a period of a couple of hundred klms south of Rocky where the average was in the vicinity of 17L/100klm due to a strong headwind. Features... that make this a great all round holiday vehicle as well as the fuel efficiency are what Jeep call Trail Rated extras which are only available in the Trailhawk model lineup. These include 4 underbody plates for extra off road protection, 18 inch alloys designed for off road but also provide a taller profile tyre for a more shock absorbing ride which are Kevlar sided for extra sidewall protection off road. Quadra-Lift suspension to raise or lower the vehicle is standard and 2 cool looking red tow hooks out front complete the look. Not short on luxury or safety either with the likes of adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring etc and suede inserts in the leather seats with ventilated cooling. Panoramic sunroof is available as an option. The whole trip was a comfortable experience over the 2 days it took to complete it.
