21.01.2022 People ask me what more they need to do in order to be missional. Whenever I hear that, I fear that striving, anxiety, and drivenness stemming from our Christian culture, has entered into their frame of reference. This is counter to becoming a missional Christian modeled on Jesus. The mission is more about identity and becoming rather than primary activism and striving. A missional spirituality will always lead to action of course, but it will come from a place of resting in the person of Jesus who lives in us. Karina Kreminski

15.01.2022 During NAIDOC week, a grand story of a wonderful lady who we farewelled to glory not long ago in Lismore, Widjabul Wia-bal land. "There is a land that is fairer than day... And by faith we can see it afar...."... Listeners to the 5 minute podcast below will hear of 'Cubawe' near Lismore (just to the west near Leycester, on the right just before the railway crossing on the way to Kyogle), and the settlement where there was a chapel, and where Pastor Frank Roberts (snr), a Church of Christ pastor, was an elder & core leader. Auntie Dorrie's maiden name was 'Roberts', and she grew up at Cubawe. Together, she and her husband Rev Charles Harris lived their lives as champions for Jesus in the midst of injustices. Auntie Dorrie's funeral was held at the Cubawe site, and someone attending who grew up at Cubawe, told me of the 19 houses that once stood there, and the chapel that was at the centre of their community, and community life. The site is a parkland today. We might look back with positive nostalgia, but I believe there are grand things in the future for indigenous reconciliation across Australia, and for communities to once again see much good flourish. Thankyou Jesus, may it be so. https://www.abc.net.au//dorothy-gordon-first-indi/12872492

09.01.2022 What does it look like to practise spirituality in a busy, urban space where you’re on the go all the time? Karina Kreminski We talk a lot about a surrendered, sacrificial life, and we can be fooled into thinking that sacrifice and surrender means putting your name on the morning tea roster on a Sunday morning because you have to get up early. The sacrifice is actually hanging out with that transgender woman who lives down the road, she says. When we think about spiritu...ality, often it’s about withdrawing, retreating: we close our eyes, we go into our rooms, we think about living in the mountains, forging the hills and the valleys. But what does it look like to practise spirituality in a busy, urban space where you’re on the go all the time? Where there are significant issues of homelessness and mental illness, and mixing with people who are very different to you the gay community, others who are struggling with their sexuality? What does a spirituality look like that’s fleshed out and grounded and engaged with the world rather than being mystical, other-worldly? Karina Kerminski See more
