25.01.2022 Pender Bay Escape WA We spent 3 Amazing Nights here just relaxing, unwinding and feeling extremely grateful to be living this incredibly lifestyle As soon as we found out they were opening we booked the Bath Site straight away and boy Im glad we did ... 24.01.2022 Cable Beach WA Fun in the sun and wind ... The waves were pumping so Chris went and hired a foam board, and tried his hand at surfing as I sit on the sand with some free entertainment! It was way to rough to have a proper go at it unfortunately. 23.01.2022 Broome WA You can most certainly see why we fell in love with Broome and why we spent so much time here, it was definitely a place we could settle long term. The gateway to the Kimberley, the incredible colors of Pindan meeting the stunning blue waters surrounding this little coastal town, the beautiful sunsets that you get to witness every night are like no other and the camel rides on the 22km stretch of Iconic Cable Beach create the most epic backdrop. The list goes on. ...We made so many incredible memories here, we met some fantastic people, we had jobs we loved and the kids had the best time slipping straight back into mainstream school, however all good things must end so better things can begin, which meant we were back to living life on the road and back to playing in a bigger backyard, Australia but not before we said goodbye to our Swanny and Hello to our Upgrade, Jayco Expanda.. cant wait to show you more of our new setup. We had a brilliant day on the Lake for Wayne from Towns Travel Oz Birthday, hiring a BBQ Pontoon Boat and Swimming in a lake which is home to 30,000 Freshies. 22.01.2022 Gumbanan Wilderness Retreat WA Chris was up early this particular morning, enjoying the beautiful sunrise and decided to chuck a line in, pulling in an undersized Parrot Fish and a Garfish. 20.01.2022 Cheela Plains Station WA is a great spot to stay a night, or two or even seven... we are so glad we ended up pulling up camp here on the way to explore Karijini with travel buddies @townstraveloz We were now well and truly in red dirt country! The kids had a tonne of fun getting covered head to toe in it. Huge Highlight = So stoked to meet Coco the Gentle Giant raised from 2 days old and super friendly! So cool to be able to get this close to a Bull (steer) and him... not want to kill you Included in our stay was access to Beasley River Gorge, which was cool to explore and topped off with a swim at Mussell Pool. Too cold for Bec and I this is free if you stay 2 nights or more! 16.01.2022 Derby WA Our weekend away in Derby with @townstraveloz ! We attended our first Rodeo ever (except Chris who has attended quite a few) and absolutely loved it, the riders are so incredibly brave to do what they do The kids thought it was the bees knees! We spent Saturday arvo at the Kimberley Picnic Races in our best Caravan living Get-up another first for us!... Then a walk around the Derby Wharf, checked out the Boab Dinner Tree and a peak at the Old Gaol, such an eye opener for anyone interested in the history. 15.01.2022 Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm WA A fully operational pearl farm located on the Kimberley Coast, at the top of the Beautiful Dampier Peninsula in WA. This place was magic! From the infinity edge pool which we utilised most in our 3 days here, to the restaurant where we sipped our coffees, enjoyed Matsos Mango Beer and splurged on a delish lunch , the bush camp located 1km away was spacious, with only room for 5 vans, and had its own communal fire pit, the resident chickens t...he kids became fond of liked to try to stow away in your car and is also home to green tree frogs that lived in the amenities block Last but most certainly not least, on our moving day we did our pearl farm tour which was absolutely AMAZING and a must do! Learning all about the History of Cygnet Bay and how Pearls are farmed, watching a live harvest, where our Oyster produced a baroque pearl valued at $552 it was just incredible, we all loved it including Mr Charlie who opted for a lime on a stick instead of the pearl meat we got to try at the end of the tour We were also lucky enough to meet Bruce Wiggan, an indigenous elder and traditional owner of the land Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm exists. 13.01.2022 Lake argyle WA Australia’s second largest man-made reservoir by volume, it holds over 18 times the volume of water that Sydney harbour does! Holy wow. Go on a sunset cruise, hire a BBQ Pontoon Boat or chuck your boat in if you’re carting one to explore this magical place!... Go for a Swim, have a jump off jump rock and spot the vast array of wildlife keeping mind lake argyle is home to around 30,000 Freshies haha I was adamant I was not going in the water, half way through the day, I swam and jumped off jump rock all amidst a panic attack, but I did it. Fun fact: Freshies have a narrow snout with 68-72 sharp teeth opposed to the saltwater croc who has a more broad snout with an uneven jawline and blunt teeth. 11.01.2022 We thought since our following has grown rapidly, it seems fitting that we re introduce ourselves! We are Twelve Feet Around Oz, Chris and Tanya exploring our beautiful country with our tribe Chloe (12), Logan (9), Emileigh (6) and Charlie (3) We left our beautiful community in Batemans Bay, South Coast NSW back in October 2019 and hit the road in our Jayco Swan towed by our Toyota Prado. ... We love hearing other travellers stories on the road, after all everyone has a story and we are keen to share ours to hopefully inspire others! Our motto is to live in the now because tomorrow is never guaranteed.. which we know all to well if we rewind back to Our Hell and the reason we are doing what we do now Chris was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer back in October 2014 and was lucky enough to have life saving surgery in March 2015 after 3 months of intense chemotherapy. We honestly couldnt rate our experience at Gumbanan high enough, we absolutely loved our short 2 night stay (if we didnt have bookings we would have stayed longer for sure) At just $34 per night (if you stay 2 or more) you just cant go wrong, especially when your waking up to this view ... 10.01.2022 Eighty Mile Beach WA That milky blue water, beautiful shells, natural hot spring bath in the bush, doting on Potty Calves who were abandoned by their mamas and meeting new people including another beautiful travelling fam @coatez_cruiz_oz at such a chilled out private Station we were lucky enough to spend 3 nights at recently. Chris was in his element catching a few fish and shark at high tide then exploring the rock pools at low tide to spot turtles we found tw...o, watching them swim around these tiny pools was awesome, the kids thought it was pretty bloody cool! 09.01.2022 Located on the Stunning Dampier Peninsula in WA, Cape Leveque is the northernmost tip. We stayed at Gumbanan Wilderness Retreat, Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm - where we also day tripped into the Stunning Kooljaman from and then headed down south a little for our stay at Pender Bay Escape. A magical 8 nights in total where we swam, soaked up the sun, took in the stunning landscapes and just relaxed. 05.01.2022 Bungle Bungles, Pununulu National Park WA We based ourselves at Spring Creek Rest area and left just after 5:30 in the morning to try to beat the heat with our travel buddies Towns Travel Oz in tow!... We were told that the road was one of the worst in Australia, and with us yet to do the Gibb we thought itd give us a taste - (side note:after now having done the Gibb, we agree, the bungles were worse in our opinion!) It was heavily corrugated and extremely rocky but we were in and out unscathed dropping our tyres to 25 PSI. Unfortunately the Info Centre was closed however we grabbed our map and decided to tackle the Dome loop and Cathedral Gorge first, Charlie chucked a massive wobbly most the way and the heat started to take its toll already! Finishing up about 10:30am. About an hours drive in the opposite direction we had some lunch and enjoyed the Echidna Chasm walk. Such a different landscape covered with greenery and upon entering the chasm we were relieved with a cool temp drop. (Hot Tip: Definitely do this walk in the hottest part of the day ) The kids loved this walk, especially Charlie whose sense of adventure came out when the rocks appeared that he loved climbing over and jumping off. Absolutely loved Echidna! We Arrived back at the car just after 1 and were definitely glad we decided to get out here early! 04.01.2022 Barn Hill Station WA This post will show that just because some body else has the best experience at a location, doesnt mean you will too and thats ok. We saw the recent rave in about 5+ different posts about Barn Hill so we decided to head there with 6 nights stay (before Broome booking) in mind.. we left after just 2 unfortunately! Our hot tip - stay in the unpowered area if you can, unless you can cope with the power going out over and over, not happy when it ...took 3 goes to boil the kettle every bloody time I wanted a Coffee and I Love Coffee! 01.01.2022 Port Hedland WA After a 4.5 hr drive (overtaking road train after road train ) and nearly a week of free camping, we were so happy to see Port Hedland Discovery Park! Hot showers were just heaven Port Hedland is a town in Western Australias beautiful North West with satellite town South Hedland not too far away - famous for its resource industry, Big Ships, Long Trains and Huge Salt Piles!... We mostly chilled out for our short stay here but managed to keep the kids occupied with - Stroll at Pretty Pool Ship viewing at The Jetty Shell spotting and Sunset at Spoilbank catching up with Towns Travel Oz Don Rhodes Mining Museum Wedgefields BIG Wheelbarrow KMART and a few other Retail outlets oh and Maccas for lunch.. twice Our tribe were so happy to meet the kids from @allardsacrossoz and @sunnyseeking hopefully meet up again soon!
