25.01.2022 The hiring chain... . Watch it, dance to it, sing along, play it on repeat, be inspired by it... and let's all be part of it. The hiring chain.
24.01.2022 Nine years ago I was part of launching a natural health magazine with the one and only Jacqui Ooi. It was the beginning of life with "slash careers" for both of us, pursuing passion gigs alongside our professional careers. Fast forward to today, and Jacqui is the host of the smart podcast series What She Did Next. She calls it "conversations to inspire your next move" and wow, she is bang on. It's one of my go-to pods; hours upon hours of fascinating career stories of women f...rom diverse fields sharing insight about their journey of facing and embracing change... All abound by brave choices, off-the-beaten paths and adventurous lives that make a positive difference in the world. I feel so honored to feature alongside some incredible women on What She Did Next - Podcast to talk life with a lil extra. Tune in for (a brave and personal) conversation with Jacqui about all things life, from growing up in the Arctic to careers and callings, fears, learnings, daydreams, ambitions and why 21 Gifts feels like coming home for me. I hope you enjoy it. ---------------------- What She Did Next - Podcast #twentyonegifts #theluckyfew #whatshedidnext #australianpodcast #payitforward #nursesareheroes #advocatelikeamother #t21 #nothingdownaboutit #downsyndromeawareness
11.01.2022 Happy World Down Syndrome Awareness Day! This year's theme is #CONNECT, and connection is one of the biggest gifts my daughter's extra chromosome brought me and that she, just by being her awesome self, continues to give me... A stronger connection to myself, my purpose, values and the people around me. And today, I am so excited to announce that we have officially CONNECTED with Hireup! As the UN says about this awareness day, "we connect so we can reach out to key stakehold...ers to bring about positive change and share ideas, experience and knowledge". I can't imagine anyone better to do that with than Hireup. Their online support worker platform makes my mama heart do summersaults from sheer happiness - because it puts individual strengths, interests and personalities in the front seat. You all know how I'm all about a strengths-based approach to life, and Hireup is leading the way by redefining what it means to be connected and supported. So... To the Hireup team: Thank you, thank you, thank you. Not just for supporting us, sponsoring our cause and teaming up to pack these suitcases for a new adventure... But most of all, thank you for being the positive change that makes a mama heart do summersaults. It takes a village to raise a child, and it definitely takes one to change old ways for the better. We are so grateful to have you in ours.
07.01.2022 On the eve of World Down Syndrome Awareness Day, here's a piece of magic from our friends at Celebrate T21... A beautiful video capturing Stephanie Rodden and her team's photo exhibition celebrating the lives of more than 100 people with Down Syndrome across Australia. This was a sneak peak into their upcoming book, which we can't wait to help spread far and wide through our hospital network. Press play and enjoy! xx https://fb.watch/4lsVBXyPWr/
06.01.2022 Hi everyone, meet.... Sofia-Grace! This bundle of joy is four weeks old today. Welcome to the world, gorgeous girl, and happy four weeks with your lucky mama, papa, big sister and big brothers. Some words from her mama Bianca below: "Hearing your story and seeing the support and amazing networks out there makes me so happy and excited for the future. Thank you for the suitcase as a start to my family's journey. ... My family and I feel so honoured and blessed to have Sofia-Grace in our life, and my older three kids are absolutely smitten. They're the proudest in the world!" #twentyonegifts #theluckyfew
03.01.2022 This right here. This is pea-ship & friendship. And - it was the launch night of something I'm (shamelessly!) proud of being part of: A booklet of hope. These glossy pages are a dream come true --- extending 21 Gifts to meet parents at those first wobbly steps into ANY child diagnosis. You see, after talking all things life with Mandy and Kate last year on their Too Peas In A Podcast, we decided to dream, dare and DO IT. And in true pea style, THEY MADE IT HAPPEN. The pages... may be glossy, but the words on them from Mandy, Kate, Lisa, myself, Mel, Tris plus Travis & Fiona are real, raw, warm and heartfelt. They are letters of hope for new parents on diagnosis day - the words we wish somebody told us. Our shared goal? To distribute these across our hospital network of 120+ hospitals and beyond; in pediatric offices, early intervention services - all those places where parents need a helping hand to shine light on the future they don't know how to imagine. We hope this booklet of letters can be that light. #toopeasinapodcast #theluckyfew #twentyonegifts #advocatelikeamother #payitforward #kindnessproject #downsyndromeaustralia #lifeisbetterwithyou #uniteinmotherhood
