25.01.2022 Illiteracy is a major issue facing remote Indigenous communities. Being unable to read and write is a significant barrier to education, employment, health and wellbeing. @indigenousliteracyfoundation Foundation works to address this through providing books and literacy resources (some in first languages) to families, schools and service organisations in remote communities; and publishing stories by Indigenous people that are reflective of community life, language and culture. 18.01.2022 Last Friday we hosted our first Safeworks Safety Event which included special guest Theo Venter. Theo presented his inspirational and moving story, reflecting on the day he was electrocuted by 22,000 volts of electricity whilst working on live powerlines. Theo talks candidly of his three days in hospital waiting to die and his desperate fight to survive both physically and mentally long after the event. All because of one small safety shortcut. The story was extremely hard hitting and we all took a lot home from Theo’s story with a very powerful safety message After the presentation it was time for pizza, beers and some table tennis. Great way to wrap up a Friday afternoon at Techworks!

15.01.2022 Techworks were recently awarded a major lighting upgrade project at Roebourne Regional Prison. Our superstar project team visited site last week for a pre-start inspection before the project kicks off next month. They also managed to fit in some local sightseeing! The project involves upgrading the external lighting towers and control systems to enhance the prison security. @ Roebourne, Western Australia

14.01.2022 Techworks is celebrating our appointment by the Public Transport Authority for the Design, Installation and Maintenance of Solar Systems to 60 Train stations in the Perth Metro Rail Network. The Metro network consists of the Mandurah, Joondalup, Midland, Fremantle and Armadale Lines. The project includes feasibility studies, engineering design and installation, as well as maintenance of the systems for a 5 year period. This contract highlights the PTA’s commitment to a sustainable future and Techworks ability to undertake large scale complex projects for Government, the team are thrilled with the contract award and are looking forward to a huge 2021 for Techworks!

12.01.2022 Techworks are working with Blackburne Property Group to bring to life the Ascot Waters Marina Development with feature pathway and carpark lighting. The development positioned by the waters edge in Ascot consists of 3 boutique buildings and is due for completion in 2020.

The stats around suicide in our industry are staggering and MIC’s Field Officer Rudy shared some stories that really hit home for the group. After completing the Mates In Construction Awareness Training, next we tackle the MIC Connector training where we learn to connect mates with help and support services Hard hats off to everyone at MATES in Construction, we can’t thank them enough for what they are doing for the Building and Construction Industry in Western Australia and for Techworks!

11.01.2022 Techworks plumbers have been completing RPZ backflow prevention testing recently for VenuesWest, Town of Cambridge and City of Swan. Backflow is a reversal of the normal direction of water flow in a hydraulic water supply system and can cause containments to enter the main water supply. 08.01.2022 Techworks managers attended Saferight recently to complete Working at Heights Training and Heights Safety Supervisor courses. Safe Work at Heights has been a massive safety focus for us. The Heights Safety Supervisor course provides our managers the training to facilitate a Heights Rescue Plan, inspect all equipment and authorise a Working at Heights Permit. This was a custom made course that Saferight put together especially for Techworks Group and two tickets were complet...ed in one day. Thanks Saferight!!

The facility houses multi-disciplinary research teams, creating a graduate training environment that will significantly advance Australia's marine science capacity, capability, and profile. Everyone knows this iconic Freo haunt which received much needed TLC and compliance upgrades from the Techworks Electrical team.
