15.01.2022 Introducing our new series - Twin Creeks Equine Rider Profiles, where we take a look at the superstars of Twin Creeks Equine, and what makes them tick! Starting with yours truly... Rebecca Sullivan I'm the (very lucky!) owner of Twin Creeks Equine, I love what I do here, and really get a kick out of seeing people having fun, improving their horsemanship skills, and making a facility like this available so everyone can enjoy their horsemanship journey. Its especially satisfy...ing to watch kids come in with their first pony, taking their first steps at a walk and watching them fall in love with horses just like I did. Before we know it they're saddling their own ponies and cantering around like they've always known how. I've always had a love for horses, and started out as a teenager in Pony Club. These days I compete at cutting with my horse Pepitas Reynbow (below), she's incredibly talented and has bred a beautiful filly for me who is set to follow in her mama's footsteps. When I'm not competing, I really love groundwork, leading into liberty and tricks such as the lay down. Personally, I love the mental challenge of showing, and take a special interest in sports psychology - show skills, how to get the best of ourselves under pressure and really stretch our comfort zone. My favourite part of horse training would have to be foals & weanlings, its so important to set our babies up for a bright future with the right training, and so cute watching them learn and gain confidence with humans! "No hour of life is wasted spent in the saddle" - Winston Churchill

11.01.2022 Instalment #3 in our Twin Creeks Equine rider profiles takes a look at our treasure Suzie Stoodley, take it away Suzie! When did you get your first horse, what was his/her name? My first horse I got, is one of my current horses Fudge, I had been riding prior to purchasing him and had a few years off but my lifestyle at the time didn’t allow for a horse as well. A change in lifestyle meant I was able to purchase my first horse nearly 12 months ago. ... What is your chosen/favourite discipline? I am in the process of learning dressage, both cowboy/western dressage and English dressage. I also just enjoy playing games/having fun on my horses in general. What has been your favourite/defining moment with horses? Would be rescuing my horse Buckles earlier this year. She was extremely neglected and under weight, I also had very little information on her and some of it was not correct. With only a little guidance on what to feed her I have managed to bring her weight back up to scratch, gain her trust and build a beautiful bond with her as well as find out a few things about her. What words of advice would you give to someone new to horses? Learning both ground work and riding a horse doesn’t happen overnight, focus on little steps which will allow you to work towards your main goal. What do you feel has been your biggest challenge to overcome with a horse? Overcoming my anxiety around riding my horse Fudge after a fairly bad fall. I spent months and months struggling to stay on him, and thankfully with the help and assistance of my trainer Mindy Zammit, I moved him too Twin Creeks along with this Covid 19 happened and this has allowed me to hop on him nearly daily. I went from barely being able to sit on him to riding him nearly daily. What do you get most out of having horses and /or competing? Having two beautiful horses, who take my stresses away when they are around me and the group of supportive people I have met and am still meeting along my journey.
