08.01.2022 Dont let noise keep you up at night! Double-glazing helps to reduce the impact of outside noise giving you peace and quiet in your home. Twinglazes double glazing is an Insulated Glass Unit (IGU), this is made up of two pieces of glass that are joined by an argon gas. Using an argon gas is much more effective than using air, which is what many inferior products use. The argon gas has many great thermal attributes as well as reducing noise by up to 50%, making your home quiet and peaceful.

06.01.2022 Do you feel like you are sinking money into your energy bills? These are the most common mistakes you could be making when it comes to energy expenditure in your home, and making a few quick fixes could save you a tonne! 1. Letting The Heat Out Poorly sealed doors and windows are the enemy of energy efficiency, and can be a major source of heat loss and gain in your home. Locate and close any cracks you can find, and consider resealing around your windows and doors or replaci...ng the glass with retro-fit double glazing for maximum heat loss or gain protection. 2. Pumping Your Air Con Or Heater Inefficent heating and cooling can add loads to your energy bill. Aim to keep your cooling at 24-26 degrees, as anything lower can add up when its time to pay, and try and keep your heating thermostat at around 20 degrees anything above that can add 10% to your bill! 3. Making Your Fridge And Freezer Too Cold The most efficient fridge temperature is between 3C and 5C, while for your freezer, its -15C to -18C. Every degree lower will require 5% more energy. Ensure to check the seals as well, by sliding a piece of paper inbetween the seal and the door. If it falls out, you know its time to replace them.

Underestimating Labour And Material Costs Failing to research the costs for the labour and material costs can be one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Make sure you research by looking up materials online, comparing quotes and investigating labour costs. And dont forget about potential costs such as local council fees, ...finance repayments or rental payments (if you have to move out during the renovation). 2. Not Setting A Timeline If you dont set a deadline, you will never finish! Map out your scope of work, and then estimate how long each task will take you and come up with a completion date. 3. Going Overboard With The DIY There are loads of tasks you can definitely do yourself such as painting or basic landscaping but there are some you should just leave to the professionals. Plumbing, carpentry and electrical are things you should always consult a licenced professional on, as they are not only costly if you make a mistake that you have to rectify, but can be potentially dangerous to attempt with no training or knowledge.
