23.01.2022 Is there any better sound than rain on a tin roof? :) Enjoying some much needed rain at Twisted Gum Wines.

22.01.2022 Autumn in the Granite Belt.

22.01.2022 Big news! Wine tastings can now be offered by QLD cellar doors. How good is that?! :) The new regulations came into effect today. We are permitted to take bookings for a maximum of 10 people at a time. Our cellar door will be open on Saturdays and Sundays (as usual). Bookings are essential and can be made for one of the following 6 time slots: 10am, 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm or 3pm. Thus a maximum of 60 people can be served per day at Twisted Gum Wines.... If you wish to book please contact us by email or phone. Cheers! Tim & Michelle See more

22.01.2022 Many visitors to our cellar door ask about the fabulous statue we have out front. It was done by the incredibly talented Dawn Conn Sculpture. Here are some pics of some of her recent works. Enjoy!

21.01.2022 Another day of excitement at Twisted Gum Wines during lock down! Today Gus and Tim went for a walk in the vineyard. They found Mr and Mrs Duck plus 9 ducklings in the front dam near our cellar door. But they did not want to say hello. The duck family swam under the fence and ran over the driveway and into the neighbour's dam. Now Gus is bored with only Tim to play with. :)

21.01.2022 Our eldest daughter Kate has married her beau! Lots of tears, smiles and laughter at Twisted Gum on the weekend. :) Congratulations Kate and Matt! Lovely photos by Christopher Visentin Photography.

20.01.2022 Our new solar system has been installed at Twisted Gum Wines! An extra 34kw of climate friendly energy at a fraction of the cost of grid energy - now what is not to like about that. :) A big shout out to local company Solar Blessing for their excellent service. Some extra details provided by Solar Blessing in the new Winter edition of the The Granite Belt Magazine - see image below.

18.01.2022 A photo of Tim in front of our Shiraz crop. The Shiraz is looking great and will be ready to harvest in a just a few days time. :)

18.01.2022 Lamb shanks, a wood fire and our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. Granite Belt heaven...

18.01.2022 Lovely photo of our Grenache vineyard and cellar door from our front gate. The Granite Belt is looking an absolute picture after all this rain. :)

17.01.2022 Michelle and I and Gus would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the people who have visited our cellar door in recent weekends. You guys have been great! You have displayed amazing patience and good humour as we have bumbled our way through the Covid-19 requirements of hand sanitising and sign-in sheets and seated tastings and so on. :) It has been a touch stressful for us at times - but we have also had lots of fun chatting with you all about food and wine and our new pandemic world! We hope you are all enjoying your wine purchases at home and will look forward to greeting you again in hopefully "less complicated" times.

17.01.2022 Another beautiful day in #GraniteBeltWineCountry.

17.01.2022 Our cellar door may be closed for wine tastings until next year, but we are still hosting some exciting events this year - including this amazing art exhibition by Krishna, which opens on Saturday!

16.01.2022 Lots of smiling faces at the watercolour workshops at Twisted Gum Wines on the weekend. Well done Emily Coelli Art.

16.01.2022 Any uni students looking for work over the summer holidays? Escape the heat and humidity of the coastal strip and earn some cash picking fruit and vegetables up on the mountain in Granite Belt cool country!

16.01.2022 Campfire paella went down a treat with our 2016 Shiraz.

15.01.2022 Sam's is the place to go if you want top notch fresh fruit and veg in the Granite Belt!

15.01.2022 What do we do when we have sold out of all our white wine and we are hosting our big annual event: Dinner Under the Stars? Well we decided to dig out a case of one of our best wines from our personal stash. The 2014 Chardonnay was simply stunning! Fresh and lively with lashings of melon and stone fruit with a hint of lemon on the finish. Wow! Plus Chefs Jason and Robert put on an outstanding five course degustation menu! - matched perfectly to our single vineyard wines. ... And also a big thank you to our guests who were in fabulous humour (given the unseasonal winds) and really made the night so special. :)

15.01.2022 A big thank you to Jordanne for sharing her photos with us from Dinner Under The Stars at Twisted Gum Wines on the weekend. The light on arrival was just magic!

14.01.2022 GBART starts tomorrow - too many choices!

14.01.2022 Shiraz harvest complete at Twisted Gum Wines! About one third our usual crop this year but some very nice fruit. Crushing and de-stemming all done and the ferment is now quietly ticking away. :) #vintage2020 #singlevineyard #granitebelt #shiraz

13.01.2022 We have been busy packing and posting boxes of wine in recent weeks. A big THANK YOU to those who are continuing to support our business through these tough times. The latest Covid-19 update indicates that we can start providing wine tastings again in July. We will look forward to welcoming you all here again then! :) In the meantime our wines can be easily ordered through our online store. Free freight and 10% off any order of 6 or more bottles (with larger discounts for ...Wine Club Members). https://twistedgum.com.au/online-store/ See more

12.01.2022 Is there anything better than roast lamb in a camp oven on a beautiful autumn evening in the Granite Belt? :) Our family business might be reeling from two years of the worst drought on record, multiple bush fire emergencies, a caterpillar plague and now the covid-19 pandemic forcing wine tourism in the Granite Belt into hibernation in what is normally the start of our peak tourism season up here... But our family is in good health, we have food to eat and a beautiful place to live - these are the things that matter. :)

10.01.2022 CELLAR DOOR CLOSED FROM SEPTEMBER 2020 TO APRIL 2021 After two years of record drought (and some very strong wine sales) our wine stocks are getting very low. So for the very first time in 13 years we have no white wine or rosé wine left to sell this year! We have just two wines now available for sale our Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines will continue to be available for purchase online via our website, but we have decided that a flight of just two wines is not enough to provide the style of wine tasting experience that we like to provide in our cellar door. So our cellar door will be closed from the start of September and then will re-open again in May next year, when we plan to have some lovely new wines to share with you all. :)

10.01.2022 Twisted Gum Wines is excited to announce that we are hosting a solo exhibition by talented local artist Krishna! The inspirational "Girraween Reborn" provides a window into "the scarring, suffering and etching of time that the land undergoes in its’ eternal struggle with droughts, fires and floods." The exhibition opens on Saturday Sept 5 2020 at 2 pm, with further details in the flyer below.

10.01.2022 Say hello to our new lawn mowers! Five very cute Dorper-cross sheep. These guys have been a real hit with the visitors staying in Twisted Gum Cottage in recent weeks. :) The sheep will be used for weed control and nutrient cycling in our vineyard rows during the winter. #greenmowers #sustainablefertiliser

09.01.2022 Is there anything more spectacular than new season wattles in #GraniteBeltWineCountry?! This one is located in the rocky outcrop just in front of Twisted Gum Cottage. Wow!

09.01.2022 Fabulous fresh produce in the #GraniteBelt :)

08.01.2022 Mallow Organic Lamb is produced on a small property west of Stanthorpe by Andrew and Helen Ferrier. This is the lamb we use in our degustation dinners at Twisted Gum Wines - the quality is simply outstanding! Mallow Organic Farm #organic #granitebeltwinecountry

08.01.2022 Budburst in the Chardonnay at Twisted Gum Wines. Always an uplifting time of year. Bring on vintage 2021 !!

07.01.2022 The roses at the cellar door are looking amazing at the moment with a spectacutar autumn flush. We would normally have a large number of visitors admiring them at this time of year - but this year they are our own private garden. These roses are traditional roses that we purchased from Mick's Four Seasons Nursery in 2013 - the old world scent is truly something special. :)

07.01.2022 Great fresh local produce today in Stanthorpe Piazza.

06.01.2022 Our 2020 Dinner Under the Stars is now sold out! Another great response to our big annual event in November - but what is not to love about a five-course degustation menu matched with Twisted Gum single vineyard wines? :) Thank you to all our guests for your continuing enthusiasm for the fabulous food and wine of the Granite Belt.... We are accepting wait list requests (https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=627434) but based on past years those with tickets tend to hang onto them very tightly. See you all in November!

05.01.2022 The word of the month is "GREEN"!! In 2019 we recorded just 221 mm of rain compared to our historical average of 760 mm. Then in January we have had 209 mm of rain - in a month!! The dust is gone and a beautiful green carpet has appeared along with big smiles all round. The rain was too late to save the crops on most of our vineyard blocks but it has definitely saved our vines to fight another day!... The Shiraz block in front of our house is on deeper soil so it was able to produce a small amount of very nice fruit - our 2020 Shiraz should be a cracker. :) See more

05.01.2022 What are those strange looking rocks outside the loungeroom window this morning? :) It is our little flock of sheep "chewing the cud"! They do such a great job in eating down the weeds and keeping these areas near our buildings firesafe.... #BetterThanWipperSnipping

05.01.2022 Our first lamb is born on Twisted Gum Vineyard. How exciting! Emily wants to name it "Baa Baa" - but I think that would be much too corny. :)

04.01.2022 Michelle shares her thoughts on grape growing at Twisted Gum Wines. You can see why we love making wines in Granite Belt Wine Country. :)

03.01.2022 Some lovely photos by Dappled Light Photography of the Emily Coelli Art watercolour classes over the weekend.

03.01.2022 So this morning we sat down and carefully explained to Gus (our dog) that he probably would not have many visitors to play with today at the cellar door today because of covid-19 concerns. And then 6 cars arrived within the first hour or so! We were very wrong and Gus is happy. :) Lots of visitors are clearly pleased to be out in the sunshine and fresh air of #GraniteBeltWineCountry.... Our cellar door will remain open on weekends as usual - but we are also continuing to keep abreast of government recommendations re hygiene and social distancing as they become available. We have set up a special hand washing station at our cellar door and also will provide wine tastings outdoors on the veranda when the number of visitors look like exceeding the 15 person capacity of our 64m2 tasting room. For those who prefer to stay home we have home deliveries available via our online store: https://twistedgum.com.au/online-store/ And for those of you who would like to escape to the mountains for a few days we still have a few weekends available in Twisted Gum Cottage over the coming months - where you can enjoy the seclusion of being one of just two houses on our beautiful 40 hectare slice of the Granite Belt: https://twistedgum.com.au/holiday-cottage/ And above all, we wish you and your families good health and happiness in these uncertain times. Please stay safe and keep up to date with government advice on covid-19. Regards Michelle, Tim and family (and Gus)

03.01.2022 Time to shoot-thin the Chardonnay. This time each year we go through all our vineyard blocks removing unwanted shoots by hand so that the canopy remains nice and open to sunlight and breezes and the yield is kept nice and low. The Chardonnay is looking great at the moment. Here is hoping for a bumper 2021 vintage!

02.01.2022 Time to shoot thin the Verdelho! You need to be "cruel to be kind" when managing a vineyard for high quality wine grapes. Here we are removing extra shoots to ensure the canopy is nice and open to allow the sunlight and breezes in to reduce the chance of disease. It also is done to ensure the crop load is low so that the plant can properly ripen every bunch. And we love it when we find lots of these beautiful ladybird beetles in our vineyard. They are happily munching on the grape vine blister mite (see the white section under the leaf) which would otherwise damage the vine. Beneficial insects like these beetles are a big part of our insect control strategy here at Twisted Gum Vineyard.

02.01.2022 Pruning time at Twisted Gum Wines. Less than 10 degrees today but that will not stop us. Tho we might have to stop if we get lost in this beautiful clover! :) Michelle is so pleased with how well the clover is going this winter. This should set up the vines well for bud burst. #LegumeNitrogenFix #FreeFertiliser

01.01.2022 Be quick if you want to grab some of the last places in Emily's watercolour art workshops at Twisted Gum Wines!

01.01.2022 Pressing off the Shiraz at Twisted Gum Wines - look at that amazing colour! Very small batch this year but beautiful flavours with plenty of black fruits and pepper spice. :)
