11.01.2022 TODAY IS HIGH FIRE DANGER Fire Danger Ratings are important to learn and to understand. The following is a quick guide. ... CATASTROPHIC: Will be shown on maps as areas in red with black lines: This is the worst possible time for a fire. If a fire is to happen and takes hold, it will be extremely difficult to control. Alot of firefighters and equipment will need to be used to bring it under control and containment is highly unlikely. This is the most dangerous of FDRs. Conditions will change suddenly and unexpectedly. It is imperative you stay up to date. EXTREME: This is when very hot, dry and windy conditions are expected. If a bushfire is to take hold in these conditions, it will move very very fast and be very unpredictable in movement and direction. Spot fires (ember attack) in front of the fire has a very high chance of occuring. Spot fire can happen many kilometers in front of a fire and may come from many directions. SEVERE: As with Extreme, conditions are dangerous if a fire starts. (Read Extreme notes) VERY HIGH: Hot, dry and windy conditions will hamper fire fighting efforts and a fire may be difficult for firefighters to control and contain. HIGH: During a HIGH FDR, fire can still start, but is likely to be contained and controlled in these conditions. Even though at this level. the risk is much lower, all precautions should still be heeded and staying up to date with emergency services websites is advisable LOW-MODERATE: See "HIGH" For further information, visit DFES at www.emergency.wa.gov.au

10.01.2022 Sharing an awesome video from Quinns Rocks Bush Fire Brigade depicting the years fire season. It bought back a few memories of some pretty intense moments that Im sure a few residents of Yanchep and Two Rocks can relate to. Combatting the Yanchep/Two Rocks fire was a huge combined effort from brigades all over Perth City and beyond. Our City of Wanneroo brigades - Two Rocks, Wanneroo Central, Wanneroo Support & Quinns Rock & Yanchep VFRS. Then there were brigades from So...uth Coogee & Rockingham, Kalamunda & Mundairing, to Gingin & Guilderton, we had the SES, St Johns, Red Cross, DPAW and of course the all important air support! A massive shout out and huge belated thank you to every brigade who made the trek and turned out to help. Please tag a brigade or organisation that was involved, in the comments below so we can show the public the immense amount of support we had helping with this fire, and thank them for their contributions. Our little communities were truely humbled and grateful for your presence. Cheers for the footage Quinns Rocks Bush Fire Brigade. See more
