20.01.2022 Bees communicate through pheromones and the smoke disrupts that. So if they are collectively angry, the smoke calms them down by masking the pheromones. It also makes them think there’s a fire so they retreat to the honey and eat it in case they have to flee the hive. The honey in their stomach makes them calmer.
