25.01.2022 Can we get a collective 'HELL-YEAH"! This year, it's all about supporting the small gals (and guys). Give us a if you agree!

24.01.2022 You're not everyone's cup of tea. And that's 100% OK. In fact, we actually advocate that in order to be speaking to the 'right people' you're going to have to repel a few others. Let's give you an example.... If you are an Artisan, who creates amazing ceramics (aka. ART) you're not going to appeal to the homewares lover who shops at Kmart and Ikea. They aren't interested in understanding the time it takes, the creativity involved, the process, basically the ART of it all. They're just interested in a bargain (which is totally, OK of course - who isn't?) but they aren't going to be your ideal client. Chances are they'll never ever buy from you, they'll never open an email you send (we doubt they'd even opt-in to your email list) and they'll never see those amazing Instagram reels that you've created showing the intricate process of your creations. So, why are you trying to attract them? There's no need. There's someone out there who LOVES what you do, appreciates what you do and is your perfect match. Chase them, engage with them, create content and products for them. You are their cup of tea.

21.01.2022 What is one of the most common mistakes made by small business owners when creating sales copy on their site? "Not painting a vivid picture; What I mean by this is vividly describing the fairytale ending that your ideal customer desires. Copy is here to catalyse a conversation that’s already happening in your prospect’s mind. So hone into their dream vision for their life (i.e. the solution they’re seeking) and beam it back at them like an irresistible magic mirror. Your sol...ution to their problem (aka your products or services) should feel like an oasis in a desert. So paint the oasis in vivid colour". We just love this and how good is the word 'catalyse'? [a little throwback to quite a few moons ago when we interviewed Meg, a copywriter for our blog]

20.01.2022 Working solo in small business land can sometimes be a little lonely . Did you know that when you work with us you get access to join our private FB community - and we've decided to keep this group intimate, nurturing and a place where people can access extra resources + share their challenges, wins and/or anything they're looking for an answer on. We love hanging out with other likeminded women who we've connected with, and we've seen some fantastic collaborations & introductions that have been nurtured in this space.

20.01.2022 Are you feeling stuck on where to start with your own business plan? Here's a tip. Firstly, before you set qualitative goals or look at the numbers, in fact, before you do anything - we recommend you start with your why. That is, why you started the business in the first place. There must have been a bit of a fire in your belly to get you excited and motivated to pursue your business idea! Define it and remind yourself about what excited you?... Knowing why you’re doing what you’re doing might sound simple but we’ve met many business owners who are struggling and spinning their wheels because their business has turned into something they aren’t happy with and often they have stepped away from the core reason they started in the first place. No doubt there are times where you’ll wonder if you’re cut out for it, have you made a huge mistake or perhaps you’d make more money if you quit and went back to a paid job. If you are clear on your why, you understand your motivation, and you are pursuing your passions and chasing what makes you truly happy knowing and owning this will get you through those moments of doubt.

19.01.2022 True or False? A business plan can support your social media strategy? True! Earlier this year we caught up with Stacey from The Social Hub to talk all about Business Planning. ... We de-mystified any ideas that it is a task that is laborious and 'too hard' [we've seen some great plans on the back of a napkin - really, it's true!]. We offer up lots of 'real' advice and of course, we demonstrate how the clarity around some key elements to your business plan [Hello customer profiling!] can really help you with all the decisions in your business [not only the social media strategy, but the operational ones too]. Listen up #podcastlovers via the links below... http://thesocialhubau.com/episodesixteen/

16.01.2022 If you got given $5K in cash that you had to spend on your business, what would you do with it? buy more stock? get a new website? outsource your social media management?... engage a business coach? pay off a debt? pay yourself! none of the above... Tell us! Tell us! What's on your business wish list?

13.01.2022 You know we 'bang on' about customer profiling a lot. Well, this week, Helen re-listened to an amazeballs podcast from Tim Ferriss talking all things 'Branding' for Business. Anyways, in the episode, he made particular mention to owning a 'category of customer' vs. owning a 'category of product'. Hallelujah! . . And the quote of the episode...... "Cultivate the intense few, instead of the lukewarm many." He goes on to say... "It is better to have 1000 people LOVE you, rather than have 100,000 people think your kinda-sorta-cool" - as in, narrowly define your audience and serve them well. Does this stuff float your boat like us? We could talk about customer profiling all day, and as we mentioned in our most recent blog, the customer profile comes FIRST and then the sales and marketing plan which outlines how you are going to sell to them comes later (after the business plan ).

13.01.2022 Is it a surprise to you that 70% of sales are lost to abandoned carts? It was to us as we actually thought it was 90% Think about that in respect to your sales funnel... Another 70%+ sitting in the HOT (we'd say very ) stage and oh so such much easier to convert vs. a cold audience.... How is your abandoned cart email sequence looking? Here are a few essentials to remember when crafting; Make it timely. It's key to reach the potential customer while they are still 'hot to trot', within the hour gets the best conversion rates. Let them know you've reserved their order and add some urgency. The link should take them directly back to the cart to complete the purchase. According to Wholesome commerce, the open rate of an abandoned cart is 48%, link click rate is 21% and purchase rate is 10.7% - these are VERY favourable stats! Most Email Service Providers have some fantastic guidance on abandoned cart sequence set up, but if you're stuck - reach out...we LOVE this stuff.

10.01.2022 Ever wondered what goes on in a business coaching session? We can't speak for all business coaches, but for us, it's about giving our clients a big fat 'to do' list to takeaway and get things done. Ha! It really isn't about adding to your workload. It's about making sure that you're working on the RIGHT things and priorities for you business. For example, when working with our eCommerce clients, we start the session by reviewing their key metrics. Things like the monthly sa...les revenue, no. of online orders, website traffic, average spend per cart... Analysing these figures opens up the conversation about performance, what worked, what didn't, when was the last time you did some paid advertising, what offers were popular, what emails got the best conversion. Armed with all of this information, it's then about planning for the next month and identifying what activities you'll replicate, what other marketing elements you'd like to execute on, and ALWAYS using the promotional plan & calendar to drive the offers. Often we find that our clients love that they are accountable to their numbers and that it brings them more ownership to the financial side of the business. And what sort of things might be on your to-do list? - organising your products for upcoming retail periods eg; any Christmas products; - reaching out to a potential collaborator or influencer to support your brand's awareness through alternative audiences; - co-ordinating your monthly facebook/google advertising campaign; - integrating your mailchimp/email service provider with your 'abandoned cart' sequence; Just to name a few.... Got a question about business coaching? No question is too silly. DM us and we'll answer them all.

06.01.2022 Have the changes this year changed your story? When we work with clients on their strategy, we spend quite a lot of time focussing on their stories. Their personal story, the product story and the company story - they are intertwined. 06.01.2022 #feedbackwelcome Specifically for Retailers whom purchase products through suppliers, or any of you whom 'wholesale' and have some experience/feedback. Payment Terms.... 1. Do you like to pay for your purchases using credit card or do your suppliers require direct deposit? 2. If you do pay with credit, do your suppliers on-charge the merchant fees? 3. If your supplier was to on-charge the merchant fees, would this deter you from ordering? 4. Would you chose the direct debit option to avoid additional costs or continue to use credit card to manage cash flow? Thanks so much! Appreciate your thoughts on the comments. H & J

01.01.2022 Ever found yourself thinking Their instagram feed looks so good. Mine doesn’t They write such great emails, I just don’t have the same creativity when it comes to content... Why didn’t I think of that idea first? I need to be doing more, ‘so and so’ does everything and she’s really seeing results I should be doing more video on IGTV, that’s where it’s at. She must be doing so well to be able to afford to do that The voices can be soooooo loud. And even worse, they can really hinder your own productivity and growth. You need to get out of your own way. Seriously. Stop second guessing everything. Stop worrying that you’re not good enough or that something isn’t perfect. We speak to a lot of business women, and they have all the ideas, but they just haven’t started. They’re either waiting for something to be perfect., they’re suffering imposter syndrome, or they just are procrastinating. Sometimes we need to kick ourselves out of a rut and get out of our own way. We also think it’s important to know, you might be comparing yourself to others, and others might be comparing themselves to you. Everyone has to start somewhere. You might be an inspiration to someone else. And you should feel great about that! Image Credit: [IG] Quotes by Christie
