25.01.2022 While FV Silver Spectre has been out of action it was decided to put a temporary cooker on the FV Pot Luck to maintain supply for the crab picking operations. This worked quite successfully as a fill in.

23.01.2022 Picking up some crabs for the shed today is not really an enjoyable experience. North Arm where we unload is being abused by the public. We work with food and this is not really acceptable.

21.01.2022 Different beach walk photo today- swim bladder from a fish.

21.01.2022 As Skipper Chris said, this seal is probably looking for some sun. Not much chance today. The Silver Spectre is fishing in Gulf St Vincent and this was iut past the ships you can see from Adelaide.

20.01.2022 Some dead crabs showing up on the beach, water temperature is going up and they are coming out from the winter slumber.

20.01.2022 Female crabs are most prolific during winter- Skipper Chris took this photo of the variety of colours they can have.

19.01.2022 Some friends out to play this morning. Thanks Declan on the Silver Spectre for the photos.

19.01.2022 The Variety SA Bash is being held this year as a revised event and started in Kingscote this morning- they will spend a few days on Kangaroo Island and then down the South east before finishing in Adelaide on Thursday. The ferry shouldn't present any problems for Seafarers Trevor and Dennis in CAR 58- The Blues Brothers.

17.01.2022 18 foam boxes of crab halves needed a team effort, thanks to our amazing staff. Then it was His and Hers sack trucks to drop off to the designated chiller at Adelaide Central Market. What a perfect weekend for Chilli Crab.

15.01.2022 This year there will be 2 weekends to enjoy the amazing chilli crabs by Sprout Cooking School & Health Studio. This is the 4th year the pop up Chilli Crab Shack is at the Central market with its amazing aroma and we love supporting this. Book your tickets using the link.

14.01.2022 Dennis practiced his downhill bike skills when he joined Roddick and I for our Friday morning beach walk.

12.01.2022 Had a great visit from Jo Marshall to talk about Stay Afloat South Australia. The team got into the spirit and shared their tips for wellness. Thanks all.

11.01.2022 Skipper Chris was up close and personal to get this photo of a a Stargazer before it was returned to the water from FV Silver Spectre.

11.01.2022 Have you got your tickets for the Chilli Crab Shack by Sprout Cooking School & Health Studio at the Adelaide Central Market because we have the crabs. Both this weekend and next so make sure you have a try.

11.01.2022 A different take on the traditional tip jar Ink Espresso

10.01.2022 After the Bash comes a few days on the FV Pot Luck. We have a deckhand getting married today, congratulations Adrian, and Skipper Luke on personal leave. This means Dennis puts his Skipper hat on to cover the gap.

09.01.2022 Pot Luck is fishing today in Gulf St Vincent. The crabs have been very quiet in the Gulf and some of our quota will remain uncaught in GSV. We believe the unusually cold summer and now winter too is the culprit. After all crabs are sub tropical so can understand they are not that excited at the moment. Thanks, Skipper Luke for the photo. #twogulfscrab

07.01.2022 All crabs caught are handled for weight and shell hardness then measured for grading. We pick size D crabs. The overall size is smaller this year with good amounts of undersize being thrown back. So whilst our catches are considerably down and smaller, we think because of the cold summer, we are looking forward to a normal spring and summer coming up.

06.01.2022 As Brett from Pot Luck says - something different every day. Having said that a prawn is not something caught everyday in the pots.

06.01.2022 A couple of photos from Dennis while he is fishing on the Pot Luck in Gulf St Vincent of the holding system and the spray brine set up in the tanks.

06.01.2022 And thats a wrap for the 2020 SA Variety finished at Colley Reserve in Glenelg.

01.01.2022 Some friends out to play this morning. Thanks Declan on Silver Spectre for the photo.
