17.01.2022 With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, Our country mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free.... Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres, There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond our country’s foam. But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night; As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain; As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain. 04.01.2022 Even though the Severe Weather Warning has passed us by and is sweeping across the South Coastal Region. It is important to acknowledge the thunder and patches of heavy rain and high wind that are passing over head, although not fast or wet enough to trigger an official warning, it could still cause damage to your property. Please remember we are available via the 132500 phone number for water ingress, rogue trampolines, upside down sheds, felled trees and holes in roofs. The... thunder and lightning can be quite unsettling, so please check on your neighbours if you need to and anyone who may need some reassurance during the rumbles outside. PS, keep your animals inside! They hate this weather. #tworocksses #EmergencyFirstResponder #ses #community #neighbours Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA City of Wanneroo City of Joondalup #stateemergencyservice

04.01.2022 It's been a tense day throughout South West and North Coastal WA. Thankfully James has been found alive and well and there are gusts of strong winds and rain hitting the South West Coast of WA. Some SES units are attending callouts with water ingress. We are ready and waiting at Two Rocks SES on 132500 if you have any water coming into your house, missing roof tiles and *sigh* rogue trampolines in your garden. Please ring us on 132500 if you have any non-life threatening eme...rgencies. #stateemergencyservice #EmergencyFirstResponders #DFES Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA #tworockses

02.01.2022 Its Tuesday Training Time again! This week we got wet....very wet. So wet one of our members got told off for cleaning the bosses car with the run flat hose from the centrifugal pump.... It's been a while since we got out our water egress gear so we filled at least 50 sandbags and built a box lined with black plastic tarp and filled it with water and also created a run off for a 'flooded house' into the nearest drain using our bright orange tarp.... Ignore the pictures of our training manager breaking in the new centrifugal pump....ignore the smoke. You'll note the fire extinguisher and high pressure fire hydrants we share with our housemates Two Rocks Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Jokes aside, it's incredibly important that we test and maintain all the equipment we have through our fundraising efforts. Without any of we wouldn't be the unit we are today. We use training to familiarise ourselves with equipment that hasn't been used for a while because we find faults and report them during training, not, in an emergency situation. #tworocksses #community #stateemergencyservice #emergencyfirstresponders Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA

01.01.2022 From June to September last year, over 55,000 hectares had already been scorched by bushfires in northern WA, compared to only 4,000 hectares so far for the sam...e period. The latest outlook from Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC is predicting normal fire conditions through to November. The northern bushfire season may be off to a slower start, but complacency is still deadly. Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm AFSM is urging those who live near bushland to take advantage of these milder conditions to prepare their properties and bushfire plans. Those in the north west have been fortunate to have avoided a major bushfire up to now but complacency can be deadly. Being prepared is the best way to survive if disaster strikes.
