25.01.2022 It felt right to give this connection a couple more days. There is no rush in this after all. What I’ve learnt from you is that the choice to choose just one tree has been, for many of you, quite tricky. Myself included, as I reminisce about these beautiful forest giants I saw last year in Tasmania. Have you wanted to swap trees, run between trees, or been swept up in the euphoric search to find the next tree. A feeling of home or a nurture bond has been the common expres...sed words from those that have settled into their tree friend’s presence. Focusing us to become still. To sit. To ground. 20.01.2022 Thank YOU art and wildlife conservations supporters - Update // The wild orangutan mother and baby was the first in our 'Wildlife Conservation Threads' series that started in 2015. As of this morning I'm pleased to say together we’ve donated another $52 to The Orangutan Project, bring total donations to $275 since starting in October 2015 $5 from every orangutan shirt and $1 from every orangutan sticker sold I pledge to donate to The Orangutan Project (TOP). 18.01.2022 It seem to me the old Tea tree I'm bonded with in my front yard was in need of a few more friends. Her health could be better so I want to pay attention to improving water flow to the root zone, it was time for the lawn around her to be removed and a much overdue understorey reinstated. So my gift to her has been some small plant friends, so she doesn't have to stand alone in her recovery. Many of the understorey plants have been subdivided from other parts of the ga...rden. This beautiful correa the exception coming from a local nursery and has been planted just outside of the trees drip zone as the sweet spot to favour good growth in both plants. It's hoped that by gradually adding to this multi-species understorey the mix will create a micro-ecosystem. Diversity is strength in the natural world, and giving for co-existance the core. 01.01.2022 I’m LOVING the private messages from those of you doing the Tree Friend challenge Thank you for joining in Tree connection 2: Now that you’ve struck up a conversation or two with your tree you will have intuitively noticed many things. In human culture gift giving is a very symbolic ritual that we probably dont give that much front-of-mind thought to in our daily rush and busy. So when you next catch up and spend some time with your tree think about what it might like to be gifted. Maybe a much needed drink of water, maybe a flower decoration in thanks for the clean oxygen, maybe a poem, or simply the blessing of more time together. The choice is 100% yours.
