25.01.2022 Grown Ups by Marian Keyes. I’m a huge fan of Marian Keyes and have read all of her books. This is her latest. Her books are fun and a joy to read. I love that they’re a little bit predictable (in a good way) and I can rely on them when I need a good book to sink into. And this latest one did not disappoint. (Book 11/2020)

25.01.2022 I know that networking is not everyone’s cup of tea. But it can be fun! Look for events that appeal to you, whether it be a good speaker, a nice spot for lunch, a fundraising opportunity. Don’t focus just on the networking, and then it will be an event that you look forward to attending. Look for all the other opportunities that connecting with others could bring.

22.01.2022 A Bigger Picture by Malcom Turnbull. The political memoir of the year closely followed by Christopher Pyne’s book. Stay tuned, I’ll post about it in the coming weeks. I was super keen to get into Malcolm’s book. I’m an admirer of Malcolm and Lucy and for their contribution to Australian democracy and society. The events surrounding his exit as Prime Minister and the Liberal leadership have been discussed endlessly in the media. I was interested to read his side of the story, but I was also keen to learn more about his life before politics and some insight into the work of government. It’s a long read and started to feel a little long towards the end but I highly recommend.

21.01.2022 It’s the last day of Term 3 here in Queensland. It’s a big relief to make it. A huge shout out to all the parents, students and teachers in Victoria. You made it. Let’s hope you can get back to the classroom really soon. Sending hugs your way.

19.01.2022 Love this quote. I have lots of crazy ideas and dreams. Some of them work and some of them don’t. And I’m lucky to have found a husband and partner in crime who always listens to my crazy ideas and helps me find a way to make them happen. This quote is a reminder to surround yourself with people who support your dreams, no matter how crazy they might seem.

19.01.2022 It’s time to take a break from work and social media and enjoy this time of year. Christmas is not always an easy time of year. There’s a lot of pressure to have the perfect Christmas, whether that’s the perfect present, the perfect family, the perfect celebration. Instead of wishing for perfection, I hope you enjoy this time. Whatever it looks like.... My Christmas break will be spent with the people I love and very lucky to share my life with. My husband and our girls. Aged 5 and 8, my little girls adore the magic of Christmas and my husband and I love seeing them soak it all up. My wishes for Christmas Day are relaxation, a spin on the new bike I’m hoping Santa will bring (I haven’t ridden a bike since I was about 14 so wish me luck) and an hour or two to settle down in front of my laptop with a cup of tea and some Christmas chocolates to watch the Call the Midwife Christmas special and dive into a good book. With that said, I’ll be taking a break until the end of January. I’ll be back on deck on the 1 February 2021. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

17.01.2022 Comfort has been high on my priority list this year. Comfort food, comfort reading and comfort watching. One of the shows I’ve comfort watched has been Friends. I’m from the Friends generation. The first episode aired way back in 1994 my first year of high school and the last episode finished in 2004. In those 10 years I completed high school, moved out of home to study journalism, got my first job as a journalist, met my now husband and started planning an overseas advent...ure. Friends was a constant in my life through a lot of change and growing up. I had the boxset (on video and DVD), the board game and adored all six characters (well maybe not Ross, he annoyed me a bit too much). Friends has been a constant in the past 26 years. It’s impossible not to love. The writing is brilliant, the characters loveable and it’s set in one of the most amazing cities in the world. Do you have a comfort show you’ve turned to this year?

17.01.2022 To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funnybone. Reba McEntire.

17.01.2022 I set myself a goal this year (one of many) to read more books. And I’ve loved it. I’ve read 24 books this year that’s almost one a fortnight and there’s been a few chunky ones in my reading pile this year including Malcolm Turnbull’s 500 plus pages memoir and Bob Hawke’s book with 900 plus pages. I have read some amazing stories, some that will stay with me for a long time. Be sure to look back over my grid for the books I’ve read this year. They’ve been a mix of seriou...s, funny, light, inspiring and more. There’s one more I’m hoping will be under the Christmas tree this year. One that I can’t wait to get into Barack Obama’s much anticipated memoir. That will be my summer reading sorted! What was your book of 2020?

17.01.2022 Do you use a dictionary? A dictionary is a valuable resource for any one doing any writing. For me as a writer, editor, proofreader and lover of words it’s a must have! Whether it’s a physical dictionary on your book shelf or an online version, it’s definitely worth it. I’ll often be reading a book, come across a word I’m not sure of and dive into my dictionary to find out more. I have a subscription to @macquariedictionary. It’s a dictionary of Australian English and generally considered to be the authoritative source on Australian English.

16.01.2022 The Baby-Sitters Club the summer before by Ann M. Martin. Double tap if you’re a fan of The Baby-Sitters Club books! I loved these books when I was younger and so you can imagine my excitement when Netflix released their new series, The Baby-Sitters Club. Super excited to introduce my daughters to a much-loved part of my childhood. I discovered this book at the local library and loved settling in for a couple of hours one weekend reading this book. It was light, easy and ...nostalgic. Tell me, what books did you read as a child or teenager that you want to share with a new generation? (Book 12/2020)

15.01.2022 Do you have a book, publication or important document that is about to be released to the world? Have you considered hiring a proofreader first? I understand how grammar, consistent language and formatting can make or break the way it is received. My methodical approach to proofreading means that I can quickly and easily identify common errors.... I know you’re thinking that you could use Spell Check or Grammarly to do the job of a proofreader, but these programmes can often miss out of context spelling mistakes. If you have a publication that you would like to have proofread, you can request a quote here: https://www.twosprouts.com.au/contact/

11.01.2022 Jacinda Ardern: A New Kind of Leader by Madeleine Chapman. In a world where we’re looking for kindness, compassion and leadership, Jacinda Ardern is a leader the world is looking to. There’s no doubt Jacinda has captured the world’s attention. And this book helps to explain why and how she became Prime Minister of New Zealand. ... I really enjoyed learning about Jacinda and her background. Highly recommend this book!

08.01.2022 There are so many ways to learn and soak up new information. I know there just aren’t enough hours in the day some weeks with all the books, podcasts, tv shows and online articles I want to read. One of my favourite ways to learn on the go and listen to new ideas, perspectives and voices is podcasts. A shout out to some of the podcasts I’m currently tuning into: Chat 10 Looks 3 has been a favourite for years! Lorraine Murphy show big fan of this dynamo entrepreneur ... Conversations - always fascinating and a great way to discover interesting people and books to read Michelle Obama podcast seriously this woman is amazing, love everything she does.
