22.01.2022 Mugs in progress. This shows some of the steps in the process (+ pre requisite uncountable hours of practice ) Cut & weigh clay Wedge to soften & combine Ball up for wheel Wheel throw into mug vessels... Dry a little Turn (shave off excess clay) into desired shape, weight & feel Carve out fluted lines or leave smooth. Next steps to come.... This looks simpler than it actually is. It is all a long slow process but if you let yourself take your own good time, its very enjoyable. Plus you do get better at everything over time. :) x See more
22.01.2022 With delight, I can finally say the Summer Ceramic Bundles are ready for celebrating those wonderful Summer salads to be had Juuuusst in time for most postage cut off dates by Christmas if youre quick. You can also arrange to pick up from the studio in Virginia, Brisbane up until Friday Dec 20. The bundle included a salad bowl of your choice, with your choice of one of these specially made salad dressing jug & saucers. There are limited numbers and theyre all different. Wishing everyone a beautiful time filled with love. Xx
22.01.2022 My first clay love, porcelain. Ive never gone away from it, its just an extra challenge at times, other times it brings ease and reward. Its so different from the textured stoneware. I love both types of clay for different reasons. I feel like this glows. xx
21.01.2022 Beautiful image by @mirandaporterphoto of @chef_mcleod insanely delicious and gorgeous citrus gin & tonic tarts! These two make an incredible team and I get the thrill of having my plates in there from time to time. Love your work
20.01.2022 Im working hard towards getting your next Seasonal Ceramic Bundle ready to be available for you soon First Im finishing current orders, then the new Seasonal Bundles and one final round of orders before Christmas. I go in and out of overwhelm and pure creative excitement! So many things left undone to focus on one thing at a time, thats all we can do, and practice enjoying each of those things in their moments. Pictured here is a fleck salad bowl and a yet to be glazed jug; then some freshly wheel thrown jugs yet to be finished and have handles attached; and more examples of some thoughtfully wrapped goodies. I hope you are finding enjoyment in the things youre doing too
19.01.2022 Each Mug Bundle is made and packaged with the feeling like Im giving it to my Mother, my Sister or my best friend, because its what we all deserve and I love to do it that way! The meaning is in the detail. It all takes a long time, but its worth it Its also important to find the packaging items that fit the criteria of being beautiful, natural materials, recycled/recyclable and compostable and the right fit. Thanks for your patience while I do the finishing touches. ...I appreciate each of you and thank you for your beautiful feedback and I hope you love using your Mug Bundles or love to give them as presents! These will be available to order for one more week, until the end of winter, then Ill begin working on next seasons bundles, to be revealed later in September Xx See more
19.01.2022 Part 2 process shots of the mugs... Make and attach handles carefully and thoroughly Dry everything for a few days Pack everything super carefully and transport to kiln at Substation with 3 Phase power Load kiln carefully & bisque fire (3 days till cool) Unload kiln... Sand each piece to remove roughness. This takes forever on the fluted mugs! Add my makers mark Wax each base as a resist so the glaze doesnt touch kiln shelves Make glazes (whole different process) and in this case make adjustments to improve Dip, pour or brush on glaze, not too thick, not too thin Dry. Wipe each base clean (easier when base is waxed) When glaze is powdery dry, I rub the whole piece with my hand and fingers to smooth over any potential pin holes in the glaze. The result all depends on the glaze and clay type and whether fluted or not, but taking that extra time and care helps the result Pack and transport carefully Load kiln again and glaze fire to high temps. 3 days till cool. Unload kiln. Heavy duty sanding on bases so they go from super rough to nice and smooth, and a light overall sand Wash, dry, package and.... ready!! Unless of course something doesnt work as hoped and you need to make adjustments or re-glaze, or remake. This happens a lot, but I get there in the end. The first batch is complete with the exception of the fluted contrast mugs which are being adjusted slightly and will be ready soon, others will be sent out this week, and the second batch is well under way. Thank you. Finished photos to come. I cant wait till theyre in your hands! X See more

14.01.2022 Each different clay has soooo many differences. Aesthetically, and in the ways they can be worked with. And even batches can vary. Its taken me a very long time to really accept this, and take proper note of this, and also celebrate this! And to learn from my mistakes while continuing testing things out and figuring out how to embrace and work with all these differences. This is a one-off vintage inspired platter, hand formed and dipped in my food safe glaze, with gorgeous edges revealing the chocolate coloured clay through the white glaze. This clay is very defiant and doesnt like to survive the final firings on large flat pieces where the top is glazed and the base is not. But this beauty shone and she is a one-off in this shape and chocolatey clay
14.01.2022 Nature love + ceramic bowl love. A joyful match.
14.01.2022 A cylinder mug to keep you warm in the beautiful hours of morning
14.01.2022 Pretty mugs all in a row.... This may help make decisions easier for the choice of Winter Mug Bundle From left to right: Blue-grey Contrast... Ficus Green White Porcelain Its nice seeing them side by side. Pictured here are some smooth options. The porcelain is crazy smooth, all the rest have a lovely subtle stoneware texture. Cozy wishes x See more
13.01.2022 I love this room I work in from home. Ive worked in here since I moved house late last year. Prior to that every room or studio Ive worked in has been uninhabitable by Australian standards, and made me feel terrible every day in some way, but they were the only spaces at the time that allowed me even the possibility of making pottery, so I did. Sometimes I wonder how and why Ive continued for so long, but right now Im content and grateful to finally be working from a beau...tiful, simple, light filled, well ventilated room in this Queenslander that I have some level of control over, at least for the next year, and we treat each other well. I still transport everything to and from my kiln at the Substation. Making pottery requires equipment and space, which is hard to come by for individual artists, particularly potters who need a kiln and equipment, storage space and good ventilation. Sometimes I imagine what it would be like if all I needed was a laptop, or a portable painting or drawing kit, or if I just went to work for someone else every day, I could release myself from all these things I need to be able to make pottery. For some time Ive also contemplated what it would be like if all I made were small things. Thats how I started, by making jewellery after majoring in gold and silversmithing at uni and combining it with clay. It would drastically reduce the amount of equipment and materials and space and kiln size I would need. Not to mention the amount of raw materials and energy I would use. My own energy and the earths energy. But Ive enjoyed the challenge of making bigger things and I also feel many people appreciate having a place to find special bigger pieces when they need them. These are all things Im thinking a lot about and will continue to work out along the way. I hope you enjoy the space you work in Xx See more
12.01.2022 A basket full of wonder for the gift wrapping. Is it possible to spend too much time contemplating and admiring these beauties from nature? I love having them near
11.01.2022 Thanks everybody, the Summer Salad Bundles have sold out! Im so happy you loved them. Xx
10.01.2022 We (humans) and everything we love exists in the first place precisely because of the specific environmental conditions on earth at this time. For the best possible existence on earth we must respect and protect earth and make it a priority to understand it and work together as part of it. We wont realise the potential of life until we prioritise the foundations and grow from there. Work with it instead of taking from it. Theres everything and everyone out there willing and capable to do this, they just need the will of the people at the top to allow this incredible work to take place #climateaction #climate #environment

07.01.2022 Huge and heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful people Im making ceramics for. Youve also inspired me to bring flowers into my studio for wrapping your goodies and I love playing with them too! The second last batch of Mug Bundles will be packaged and sent out Monday. Plus one final small batch being made. Orders for the Mug Bundles will close tomorrow night, Saturday 31 August. Then Spring!! The mugs have been keeping me very busy so it will take me a few weeks to prepare the release of the Spring Bundles, but theyre coming Xx
06.01.2022 July Mug Bundle #plasticfreejuly Did you know that teabags can contain plastic? It stops them dissolving in hot water. Another great reason to enjoy your favourite loose leaf tea, or try new teas with the Winter Mug Bundle. Food safe, dishwasher safe; a super cute and useful small bowl also in a va...riety of finishes, and; a Fair Trade woven bamboo tea strainer all gift wrapped and packaged for delight using locally made natural materials only and NO PLASTIC! And if all you drink is coffee, enjoy your fav fresh brew in this mug and give the tea strainer to someone you know will love it! And we can all compost our tea leaves and coffee grounds This Bundle is available to order only during July. Thanks for the teabag tip @mallowsustainability @therogueginger and @brownsgeneralstore See more

04.01.2022 This is for my darling resilient amazing nephew Cove and his courageous loving parents, my sister Sas and partner Ry. They are infinitely grateful for every positive loving thought and prayer. And all the hospital team are an absolute blessing. Cove has already journeyed through so much, he is making progress and there is a long road ahead. Day by day the 3 of them face everything they need to together as an incredibly bonded loving team. Positive thoughts are powerful and they cant thank you enough for your love and support. And all my thanks and love too Xoxo
04.01.2022 Right handed view; left handed view. This ones the blue-grey stone mug with speckle bowl. Ive had to test my mathematical skills on several occasions of late, adjusting this glaze a few times before getting it to how I was aiming. Its actually really fun! When it ends in success eventually that is. I have a feeling youll be seeing many more variations of this glaze down the track, I like it so much :)
02.01.2022 Summer Ceramic Bundles will be available very soon. I was only able to make a few. The good news is theyll be ready to ship or collect straight away. Still a bit to do beforehand but getting there xx
02.01.2022 I first started making candles years ago because Im sensitive to smells and only enjoy pure essential oils which are very hard to find in candles. I also could use Australian grown essential oils by sourcing them myself. Ive had a lot of trial and error with waxes and wicks, and Im so happy that over the years Ive found both that I love and are excellent. Everything in these candles is thoughtfully chosen to create my genuinely ideal candle. And actually they have more meaning to me than I can explain here. I offer these as a loving creation I hope you will thoroughly enjoy. Theres a few available now on my website for the holidays. Xx
02.01.2022 So fresh and so clean Shuffled things around, always trying to make it more practical. The wheel, glazes, and rolling bench are behind me. This big table slides to either side of the room so I can make space when I have guests and when Im working. Never mind the rest of the house Workspace is ready
