25.01.2022 "It's feeling vulnerable at all times... You are vulnerable with yourself constantly. There's only so much of that you can handle. That's that vicious circle of anxiety with no end and no beginning." Each year on the 11th of November Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. Matt's story is one of many, one of the countless number of returned servicemen who battle daily with their mental health ...after serving their country valiantly. After capturing Matt's story we've decided to try and contribute to other young veterans around the country by raising some funds for Young Veterans Australia. We encourage you to watch this film and gain a small insight into what life can be like for our young veterans. If you can afford to contribute, we'd be honoured.
25.01.2022 I felt like those huge, heavy suitcases that we carry around with us all our life - all I was doing was putting everything into them and just being a man - being a man’s man and not acknowledging, not addressing, not talking, apart from what most Australian men do... and that’s through that drinking culture. - Matthew Pepi

09.01.2022 We have been blown away by the response from our network to Matthew James Pepi's story. On behalf of everybody involved I'd like to share a huge thank-you for getting involved and donating, sharing and listening. As a collective we've all managed to raise over $1500 that will go to helping @YoungVeteransRSL facilitate, educate and assist young veterans rediscover a sense of belonging and manage ongoing trauma and PTSD. The sharing of stories is our passion and its why we exist. Storytelling is such a powerful way to establish identity, community, empathy and understanding. It's an important means for learning, remembering and sharing culture. This sort of response only motivates us to share more and encourage others to do the same.
