Our friendly dual purpose cows come to us from a select few local dairy farmers who milk less common breeds that make great milk and also have a body structure that is more suited to beef than most dairy animals. This award is particularly special to us not just because we’re excited to be producing great beef, but also because we’re passionate about farming differently using retired dairy cows. 12.01.2022 When we first started out on this venture retiring dairy cows, one of our visions was to encourage a greater appreciation of what meat from older animals can be like. That it can be an incredible steak, deeper and more amazing than anything you have tasted from a younger animal. As a society we have become disconnected from the origins and processes of where our food comes from and it is easy to consume without realising the impact that our choices have on the health of the planet and ourselves. But we can choose. If you can, buy from butchers who know the story of your meat. Or buy direct from a farmer who can tell you how the...y produce. This may mean spending a bit more to buy food that has been grown or raised ethically and environmentally, and it may mean eating a little less of certain foods.
