23.01.2022 An appreciation post...this time thank you Townsville Signs for supporting the TYC GaLS Regatta by providing the backstay flags that all boats will fly during the event. Last year's flag is beautifully modelled here by Doug Ryan's SHAZAM, who will again have a crew from Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club racing her this year. We are excited to say their is a second entry from NCYC...which we will introduce soon

21.01.2022 We would like to introduce Rampillion, an S99 that is currently owned by 6 Melbourne-based sailors. Part-owner, and TYC GaLS Regatta skipper Cath Hurley (pictured), shared that part of the reason for her becoming a part owner was to race Rampillion at the TYC GaLS Regatta. Rampillion, which was owned by Australian adventurer and documentary film-maker Alby Mangels, is pictured here leaving Hamilton Island on her way north to race SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week and TYC GaLS Regatta

08.01.2022 Almost half of the boats at this year's TYC GaLS Regatta will be racing at this event for the first time () The first of the five newcomers that we want to introduce is 'The Secretary', a J44 that calls Sandringham Yacht Club home. Robyn Brooke will be skippering, and whilst Robyn has completed the Melbourne to Hobart "Westcoaster" two handed on The Secretary, she will not be the only experienced 'two-handed' sailor on board. Thank you for joining us Robyn, George and crew. We look forward to seeing you on the water

01.01.2022 We hinted earlier that we have another entrant from Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, and here they are. Mako is a a Sydney 40 built for the 1999 Admirals Cup and was part of the winning Dutch Team. It has raced in several Fastnet races and was converted to complete the cruise from England to Australia in 2008/09. A syndicate out of NCYC purchased her last year to compete in regattas on the East Coast. Mako has raced her way to the TYC GaLS Regatta, starting with the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race in July. She will be skippered by Janease Graham, who competed on board Shazam last year.
