21.01.2022 Hi everyone, Thanks for your patience over the recent days - we’ve been busy processing referrals, tracking donations and taking stock. We have some very exc...iting news to share with you today! Firstly, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve reached our initial $5 million target, with the tally currently sitting at $5,340,075.66 - yay! We’re continuing to receive and process referrals daily as the property assessments roll in and we expect this to continue for a while yet. As at yesterday morning, we’d approved 1,123 referrals from fire-affected East Gippslanders and dispersed $2,545,500, representing about 48% of funds raised to date. This is an incredible achievement made possible by the huge show of generosity from many organisations, families, clubs and individuals across Gippsland, Australia and right around the world - including you. Secondly, we’re excited to announce that the Victorian Government, through the Victorian Bushfire Appeal, will be partnering with GERF to distribute an additional $2.5 million of funds they’ve raised to support fire-affected East Gippslanders, helping to ensure the money gets to those in need quickly. Where to from here? Our work will continue to go on in the weeks and months ahead, as the full extent of the damage becomes known. The fortunate position we are now in means we expect to be well-placed to provide supplementary payments for fire affected Gippslanders, once all referrals have been received and assessed and we’ll keep you posted as we progress. Donations can still be made via direct deposit into the GERF bank account: Name: Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund Inc BSB: 083 932 Account: 74 019 6862 Alternatively, you can donate via our Facebook page donation button, at any NAB branch, online at gerf.org.au via PayPal, in person at Alan Wilson Insurance Brokers in Traralgon or via cheque/mailorder to PO Box 508 Traralgon VIC 3844. Once again, thank you all so much for generously supporting our East Gippsland communities in their time of need and stay tuned for further updates shortly.
