13.01.2022 NEW CFA CHIEF ANNOUNCED Congratulations and welcome to CFA's newly-appointed Chief Officer Jason Heffernan, and a very big thank you to Acting CFA Chi...ef Officer Gary Cook for leading us so capably over recent months. Jason joins CFA from the NSW Rural Fire Service where he has been the Assistant Commissioner and Director Area Operations, in addition to his role as a volunteer for more than two decades. Jason brings to CFA an extensive skillset in strategic leadership, emergency response, and community protection, with advocacy and development of volunteer capability in a diverse workforce. Over the recent black summer and over many seasons past, he has had leading roles in emergency management. As CFA moves to a 100% volunteer firefighting service, it is especially noteworthy that Jason brings many years of experience as a NSW RFS volunteer frefighter himself - he is is a strong advocate of volunteer community-based emergency services and has also had a key role in providing strategic advice and guidance to the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association Inc. on behalf of the New South Wales Government. We look forward to welcoming Jason to CFA on the 30th of November 2020 just in time for the 2020/2021 fire season, and hope he'll have the opportunity to visit us up at Mount Macedon some time in the future.
