24.01.2022 COBAW STATE FOREST CLOSED Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) has closed Cobaw State Forest near Lancefield due to last week's storm damage. It's a popula...r area for trail bike riding. Loddon Mallee Deputy Chief Fire Officer Scott Falconer said the Cobaw State Forest will be closed until June 30 as a result of extensive storm and wind damage across this area, and the public is being asked to avoid visiting the forest until it is deemed safe to return. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall have caused several fallen trees and debris to block roads and tracks along with other hazards. Our crews are still assessing the extent of damage across public land in the Macedon area to make sure it is safe for the public to access, said Mr Falconer. If you are travelling around the region, please be aware that many roads are closed and traffic lights may be affected by power outages. There is also the possibility of more roadside trees falling. Drive safely and to conditions. : supplied, DELWP ( Cameron Drive Mt Macedon, Cobaw clean up work, Macedon cleared track)

18.01.2022 It would have been our annual dinner and awards night tonight but due to Covid we have had to cancel it for this year. 2019-2020 has been a very tough year, with major fires in Victoria and NSW, a large fire in Pastoria and our normal turn out calls. Our Brigade management team is proud of our brigade members who, put their hands up offering to take time out of their own lives. ... With multiple deployments over the last fire season being sent to many locations to help out other communities without any questions asked. Thank you We would also like to thank our family members for all their support. The week long deployments away from home, the pager going off at dinner time or even early hours of the morning. Thank you. We would also like to thank the community as without your support we would struggle throughout the year. Thank you We as a Brigade are still servicing the community so when the siren goes we are still there.

18.01.2022 Join Captain Koala for #FireActionWeek2020 as he talks through how you can help keep you and hour household safe this fire season by preparing your property.

16.01.2022 NEW CFA CHIEF ANNOUNCED Congratulations and welcome to CFA's newly-appointed Chief Officer Jason Heffernan, and a very big thank you to Acting CFA Chi...ef Officer Gary Cook for leading us so capably over recent months. Jason joins CFA from the NSW Rural Fire Service where he has been the Assistant Commissioner and Director Area Operations, in addition to his role as a volunteer for more than two decades. Jason brings to CFA an extensive skillset in strategic leadership, emergency response, and community protection, with advocacy and development of volunteer capability in a diverse workforce. Over the recent black summer and over many seasons past, he has had leading roles in emergency management. As CFA moves to a 100% volunteer firefighting service, it is especially noteworthy that Jason brings many years of experience as a NSW RFS volunteer frefighter himself - he is is a strong advocate of volunteer community-based emergency services and has also had a key role in providing strategic advice and guidance to the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association Inc. on behalf of the New South Wales Government. We look forward to welcoming Jason to CFA on the 30th of November 2020 just in time for the 2020/2021 fire season, and hope he'll have the opportunity to visit us up at Mount Macedon some time in the future.

14.01.2022 Victoria Today I pay my respects and remember 12 years ago, the Black Saturday Bushfires. A deadly series of Bushfires that ignited and burned across Vic...toria (Over 4,500 km, 450,000 hectares, 1.1 million acres) on and around Saturday the 7th. of February 2009. This was Australia's worst ever natural disaster. The fires occurred during extreme Bushfire weather conditions and resulted in Australia's highest ever loss of life from a Bushfire, 173 people died and 414 were injured as a result of the horrific Fires. As many as 400 individual fires were recorded on 7 February 2009. This is a day that all Australians and Firefighters will never forget. Pete Learmonth

13.01.2022 With our fire season just around the corner now is the time to be preparing. ‘Fire In Paradise’ is a Netflix documentary about the deadly 2018 Camp Fire in Cali...fornia. California shares fire conditions very similar to ours and this documentary shows just how fast a fire can take hold and catch entire communities off guard. So many times we hear people say ‘It will never happen to me’ or ‘my plan will change depending on what the fire is doing’. This documentary shows that a good plan can be the difference between life and death, we highly recommend watching this documentary for everyone. See more
