11.01.2022 BREAKING: Greater Brisbane will go into a three-day lockdown and restrictions will come into place across Queensland after cases of COVID-19 transmission were d...etected in the community. From 5pm today, residents in the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Logan and Redlands can only leave home for one of these four reasons: 1. To buy essentials such as groceries or medications 2. Work or study if you can’t do either from home 3. Exercise in your local area 4. Healthcare or to provide help, care or support Cafes, pubs and restaurants will be open only for take-away service. Schools in the locked down areas will remain open for children of essential workers. Visitors at private homes are limited to two per day. Weddings are limited to a maximum of 10 people, including the celebrant and witnesses. Funerals are limited to a maximum of 20 people, excluding officials. For the rest of Queensland, private gatherings are restricted to 30 people. Everywhere in Queensland, you must carry a mask with you whenever you leave home. Wear it in indoor spaces, including public transport, taxis and rideshares. To keep our most vulnerable Queenslanders safe, aged care, correctional centres, hospitals and disability service providers will close to visitors across the state. The restrictions will be reviewed on Wednesday evening. These measures are tough, but they are important to keep our community safe. #covid19

09.01.2022 Happy Samoan Language Week! Our founding committee member, Pulemau Trina Faaiuaso, has written the following post in honour of Samoan Language week and its ...theme, Strengthen the posts of your house, for all to thrive." "Toe Poupou le loto-i-fale Strengthen the posts of your house, for all to thrive O le fale Samoa e fa’alagolago i le malosi o pou na te tauaveina le fale atoa. One could describe the Samoan language as a beautiful song of wisdom. The simple analogy of strengthening the poles of a Samoa Fale resonates the significance of securing, renewing and strengthening our foundation of Gagana Samoa for our children. It also echoes the importance of strong foundations to build strong individuals, families and communities; and the necessity of maintaining our ancestors’ wisdom in Gagana Samoa for present and future generations to thrive in today’s societies whilst maintaining our identities."
